You guys must know Nykaa recently has come up with their own range of makeup. After the successful launch of their nail paints and bath & body products, Nykaa announced their new baby which is the ‘So Matte’ range of lipsticks. Ever since I saw Nykaa’s Instagram story about their new launch, I was determined to try them out as soon as they hit the market. I kept the promise and got two shades from the range. Today, I will be reviewing the Nykaa So Matte Lipsticks  for you.

Nykaa So Matte lipsticks have 13 shades in the range. The shade range has a quite diverse colour palette, from nudes to pinks, reds and plums. I liked how they tried to include at least one from each colour family. After investing a lot of time choosing two best shades from the entire range, I ended up buying Orange Vice and Pink Flirt. Continue reading this post for the review and some swatches.

Packaging- The Nykaa So Matte Lipsticks come in very pretty reddish/pinkish watercolour patterned boxes. The lipstick bullets are housed in matte black cuboid cases that have metallic Nykaa logo on them. Each case has a magnetic closure to them which is really cool and convenient as it makes the lipsticks safe for travelling. I really liked the sleek and classy look of the lipstick cases. Although I am not a big fan of these cuboid-shaped lipstick cases as I find it difficult to have a good hold while applying directly with the bullet and also, they do not fit into my lipstick organiser. I don’t know if anyone faces the same problem or not but I do.

(L-R) Pink Flirt and Orange Vice

Shades- The two shades that I got from the Nykaa So Matte Lipsticks collection are Orange Vice and Pink Flirt. Orange Vice is a bright orange lipstick with a little bit of rust/brown undertones. Although this lipstick looks bright on the lips, it looks a bit toned down and rustier in the bullet. Pink Flirt, on the other hand, is a bright fuschia colour that will suit almost every skin tone. I love pinks with blue undertones as it makes my face brighter and my teeth whiter. I like both the shades.

Pigmentation- These lipsticks are very pigmented. You get an opaque application in the first swipe. Although I have noticed a patchy application on my upper lip which is darker than my lower lip. It happened with the shade Pink Flirt. Orange Vice had a smooth and opaque colour distribution.

Texture- Although, Nykaa describes their So Matte lipsticks as matte, they do not go with our usual notion of a matte lipstick. These lipsticks are in between matte and satin. The texture of Nykaa So Matte Lipsticks is very soft and creamy. They are not drying, easy to apply, they glide on the lips smoothly, feel comfortable on the lips and the application is even. Being creamy mattes, they are just perfect for winters.

Staying Power- Nykaa So Matte Lipsticks stay put on my lips for about 4-5 hours at a stretch, without any touch ups. I had applied the shade Pink Flirt during pandal hopping on Kali Puja (Diwali) and in spite of the hot and humid weather and light snacking every now and then it lasted quite long, for about 5 hours. It only starts fading from the centre afterwards. I am quite happy with its longevity.

My Views on the Nykaa So Matte Lipsticks

I am quite impressed with this new launch from Nykaa. These lipsticks are something that I can use every day during winters. My lips become very dry during winters and I don’t like putting on lipgloss, so choosing a lipstick for winters has always been a pain for me. I think I finally have got my perfect wintertime matte lippies. The best thing about these lipsticks is that they don’t settle into fine lines which a blessing for me because I have creases on my lips that make any matte lipstick look horrendous if I don’t hydrate my lips before the lipstick application. These Nykaa So Matte lipsticks are very hydrating that you don’t need any separate moisturisation before application.

Taking them off is quite a pain for me as they don’t want to come off completely even if you using a waterproof makeup remover. They leave a subtle tinge after you take it off. Other than that, I love them. These lipsticks smell like vanilla, the scent is pretty close to that of the MAC ones. They are creamy, hydrating, long-lasting and they don’t bleed. I think getting such quality withing a price-tag of only Rs 399 is quite a good deal. I would highly recommend these Nykaa So Matte Lipsticks to you guys. You can find them exclusively in the Nykaa website.

I hope you liked this review. Tell me what you feel about these lipsticks in the comments. I’ll be back with a new review very soon. Till then, be safe & keep smiling!

Hello all, how are you doing? It’s getting hotter here in Bengal, day by day and I no longer feel the Spring charm. Sad 🙁

On a brighter note, I have been in a shopping spree lately and bought a bunch of things from Flipkart. My purchase included the new launch from Lakme’s Absolute range called the Lakme Absolute Sculpt Studio HD Matte lipsticks. Phew, let me breathe first! Anyways, these new lipsticks were launched during the Lakme Fashion Week, 2015. I pre-ordered this item on Flipkart.

To be honest, the camera has not done justice to the swatches. In reality it looks brighter and more vibrant.

Here are my initial thoughts about this lipstick

  • Gorgeous colour, very appropriate for any season, specially summers.
  • Pigmentation is nice but not up to the mark, in my opinion. I have to swipe it quite a few times to get the desired pigmentation to cover up the uneven tones of my lips.
  • Stays put for a long time, almost 5-6 hours on my lips.
  • It’s perfectly matte, not very drying, absolutely perfect for my preference.
  • Does not bleed.
  • Comes out well when wiped off, without tinting the lips.
I think this has become my current favourite. I have a feeling that this lipstick is going to be my staple lipstick for this summer. Though the price is on the higher side, this lipstick is worth every penny your spend. This is what I think about this lipstick as of now. I will update you if I have anything more to say about it. Till then be safe and keep smiling!

Hello, beautiful people! As I promised I am back with a new post. In today’s post, I’m going to review and swatch two lipsticks- Irish Cofee and Caramel Margarita from Nykaa So Matte Fall/Winter Collection. If you are a regular reader of this blog then you would know that I had reviewed Nykaa’ So Matte lipsticks before, when they were just launched.

Price- 399INR

The packaging, formulation and longevity of the Nykaa So Matte Fall/Winter Collection lipsticks are exactly same as their regular So Matte collection. So, I am not going to make this post a lengthy one just by writing the same words. If you haven’t checked the previous post about the Nykaa So Matte Lipsticks then I’d suggest you check it out for a detailed discussion on the above-mentioned aspects of these lipsticks.

Among a huge range of shades, I chose to pick two (almost) nude/neutral shades because I have been loving neutrals these days. I checked out a couple of swatch videos and ended up liking these two, namely Irish Coffee and Caramel Margarita. I thought they would be perfect for any season and would suit my skin tone perfectly.

Irish Coffee is a pretty nude, brown shade that would suit Indian skin tone very well. This shade would be the perfect nude for fair to medium skin tones.

Caramel Margarita is a very warm-toned brown that again would suit all Indian skin tones. I love this shade the most.

Overall, I love these two shades from the Nykaa So Matte Fall/Winter Collection. These two shades suit most Indian skin tones, these are perfect for everyday wear, these are perfect for both daytime and night time, these are hydrating, creamy, easy to apply, give a smooth and even pigmentation, last for almost 4-5 hours. These lipsticks do not bleed but they do transfer (obviously, because they are not completely matte). I feel very comfortable wearing these lipsticks. You can check out the entire collection here.

Hey, beauty enthusiasts! Today, let’s journey through the glamorous makeup world and explore the eternal debate: matte vs. dewy finish. Choosing the right makeup finish is not just about following trends but also about embracing a style that resonates with your unique personality. So, grab your favourite foundation, and let’s dive into matte and dewy makeup details to help you find the perfect finish for your style.

Matte Makeup Magic:

Matte makeup has truly changed the game in the beauty world. It gives you that perfect, velvety finish that stays put all day long. What’s fantastic about it is how it manages to keep shine at bay, smoothing out your skin and making pores and any little imperfections practically disappear. If you love looking polished and put-together, matte makeup might just be your go-to.

Why Choose Matte?

  • Long-lasting: Matte formulas are known for their longevity, making them ideal for those hectic days when you need your makeup to stay put from day to night.
  • Oil Control: Matte finishes are excellent for controlling excess oil, providing a matte canvas that withstands shine.
  • Perfect for Photography: Matte makeup is a favourite among beauty enthusiasts who want to click pictures and shoot videos. This is because it reduces the chances of unwanted glare, ensuring a picture-perfect look.

Dewy Dreams:

Conversely, the dewy finish is all about radiance and a healthy, luminous glow. Dewy makeup is your go-to if you’re drawn to a more natural, fresh-faced appearance. It mimics the look of well-hydrated skin, giving you that coveted lit-from-within glow.

Why Choose Dewy:

  • Natural Radiance: Dewy finishes provide a youthful, radiant complexion, adding a touch of luminosity to your overall look.
  • Hydration Boost: Dewy formulas often contain ingredients that hydrate and nourish the skin, making them perfect for dry or dull complexions.
  • Youthful and Fresh: Dewy makeup is your secret weapon if you want to achieve that youthful, fresh-faced appearance.

Choosing Your Style:

Now, the big question is: how do you choose between matte and dewy? It all boils down to your style, skin type, and the look you want to achieve.

For the Matte Aficionados:

If you love a polished, sophisticated look that stays put, matte is your best friend. For a chic, modern finish, consider matte foundations, powders, and lipsticks. It’s perfect for professional settings, special events, or any day when you want your makeup to remain flawless from morning to night.

For the Dewy Devotees:

If you crave that natural, luminous glow, dewy makeup is calling your name. Opt for foundations with a dewy finish, illuminating primers, and cream-based products for that fresh, hydrated look. Dewy makeup is ideal for casual outings, daytime events, or whenever you want to embrace a more relaxed and youthful appearance.

Mixing It Up:

Who says you have to choose just one? The beauty of makeup lies in its versatility. Experiment with matte and dewy finishes to create a customised look that suits your mood and the occasion. Mix a matte foundation with a dewy setting spray for a balanced finish that’s neither too matte nor too dewy.

Conclusion

Whether you’re Team Matte or Team Dewy, the key is to embrace your style. Consider your preferences, skin type, and the look you want to achieve. Beauty is about expressing yourself, so go ahead and play with both finishes to discover the magic of matte and the allure of dewy. After all, makeup is an art, and you are the artist creating your masterpiece!

Hello, guys! Hope you are doing great. First and foremost, I want to thank all of all for your response on my 7 Things About Basic Skin Care I Learnt Late post. You seemed to have like it so much. I promise to write such in-depth and useful posts more often. Looking at the success of my previous post, I thought of writing another one which will be useful to you. So today, I am going to talk about my the top 5 nude lipsticks I love using. Hope this will help you choose something for yourself too. All the nude shades that I’ll be talking about are perfect for most of the Indian skin tones.

Nude lips are currently in vogue. It took me a while to give in to the temptation simply because Indian lipstick brands do not have a satisfactory range of nude lipsticks. Nude lipsticks are perfect for everyday use, for office or college. They are also great to pair up with a bold statement eye makeup. Depending on your skin tone, you can choose the perfect nude lipstick for you from the tonnes of shades available in the market. Very soon, I’ll write a post on how to chose the perfect nude for your skin tone.

In today’s post, I’ve shared 5 of my current favourite nude lipsticks. One of them is a creamy lipstick and the rest four are liquid matte lipsticks. This post will be a combination of swatches and mini reviews. So, let’s start-

My 5 Favourite Neutral/Nude Lipsticks for Indian Skin | Cherry On Top
(L-R) 1. Maybelline Colorshow Lipstick Caramel Custard, 2. Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Cher, 3. Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Icon, 4. ColourPop Ultra Satin Calypso, 5. Chambor Extreme Wear Transfer-proof 402

Maybelline Colorshow Lipstick- 309 Caramel Custard

When Maybelline launched their Colorshow lipstick range, I fell for it. It has a range of beautiful shades from pinks to reds to oranges and neutrals. At that time, I had slowly started to incline towards neutral shades, leaving my comfort zone (read reds and pinks) behind. So, I ended up picking this Caramel Custard shade from the collection.

Price- Rs- 299

Shade- As the name suggests, Caramel Custard is a caramel brown/cinnamon shade, perfect for everyday wear. I have worn this to my university every single day!

Pros-

  • Creamy and smooth texture.
  • Effortlessly glides on the lips.
  • Feels light on the lips.
  • Sleek, travel-friendly packaging.
  • Doesn’t bleed at all.

Cons-

  • Transfers and that’s so obvious because of the texture.
  • Doesn’t last long. 3 hours max on my lips.
  • Tends to melt in summers.

Gerard Cosmetics Hydra-Matte Liquid Lipstick- Cher

I’ve been loving it ever since I bought it! The colour, the texture I love everything about this liquid lipstick.

Price- $20

Shade- The shade is a mauvy nude shade which compliments most fair to medium Indian skin tones.

Pros-

  • Creamy formula that sets matte.
  • Despite being creamy, the formula is also thin. So, it feels light on the lips.
  • Not at all drying. (If you haven’t used ColourPop Ultra Mattes, you don’t know what ‘drying’ means!)
  • Smooth application. No patchiness.
  • Doesn’t transfer at all!

Cons-

  • A bit expensive for the quantity.
  • Not available in India.*
My 5 Favourite Neutral/Nude Lipsticks for Indian Skin | Cherry On Top
1. Maybelline Colorshow Lipstick Caramel Custard, 2. Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Cher, 3. Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Icon, 4. ColourPop Ultra Satin Calypso, 5. Chambor Extreme Wear Transfer-proof 402

Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick- Icon

I am so in love with this beauty. This product is so nice that I thank the Lord for making me able to buy this liquid lipstick. This is the best liquid lipstick formula I’ve ever tried. The texture is not runny nor thick/creamy, just in between.

Price- $20

Shade- Kind of a burnt orange/rusty shade, very neutral and very wearable.

Pros-

  • Thin in texture yet very pigmented
  • Applies completely opaque.
  • Dries completely matte, but stays a bit tacky. It’s not a powdery matte formula. Thus, feels comfortable.
  • Lightweight. Doesn’t feel like I have something on my lips.
  • Doesn’t smudge, smear or transfer.
  • Lasts for 9-10 hours on my lips.

Cons-

  • Not available in India.* (There’s a buzz around that Huda Beauty might launch on Nykaa soon!!)

ColourPop Ultra Satin Lips- Calypso

I’ve been started loving ColourPop liquid lipsticks a lot. Someone was selling these unused ColourPop liquid lipsticks, so I thought to give them a shot as a trial before I buy some new ones from their website. Among the three, one is an Ultra Satin one and this is the one I love the most.

Price- $6

ShadeCalypso is a warm-toned nude shade with a hint of pink.

Pros-

  • Perfect nude for warm Indian skin tones.
  • Dries to a satin matte finish.
  • Feels comfortable on the lips.
  • Creamy yet lightweight formula.
  • Gives an opaque finish in the first application.
  • Very pigmented.
  • Great value for the price.

Cons-

  • Requires a touch-up post meal or drink.
  • Not available in India.*

Chambor Extreme Wear Transfer-proof Liquid Lipstick- 402

This is another of my recent purchases. I love this for its colour payoff and longevity. This is one of the best nude lipsticks in India.

Price- Rs 845

Shade- The shade is a mauvy nude shade almost identical to Cher by Gerard Cosmetics. The only difference is Cher is a bit darker as it has more brown tones that Chambor 402. The latter is a bit light and has more pink undertones.

Pros-

  • Smooth application.
  • Doesn’t feel heavy.
  • Not drying. Feels comfortable on the lips.
  • Doesn’t transfer.
  • Waterproof formula.
  • Long lasting.

Cons-

  • Does budge from the centre after a few hours of wearing, or if you have food.
  • Can accentuate fine lines.

So, these were my 5 favourite nude/neutral lipsticks as of now. What’s yours?

Hey, guys! Today’s post will be a review on another new product that was launched this month. As you can tell from the title, today’s review is about the new member of the Lakme 9 to 5 family and it is their Weightless Matte Mousse Lip & Cheek Colour. I am a lover of matte lipsticks. Lately, I have been really into liquid matte lipsticks and lip creams. So, as I came to know about these Lakme 9 to 5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip & Cheek Color, I knew I had to get at least one of those. Considering the seasonal vibes and upcoming weddings, I chose to get a bold lip colour. From what I could assume from the shade names, I thought the shade Crimson Silk would be the one I was looking for. Now, let’s jump into the review!

Price- Rs 575/- for 9g [Buy here]

Lakme 9to5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip & Cheek Color Burgundy Lush Review| Cherry On Top

Lakme 9to5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip & Cheek Color Burgundy Lush Review| Cherry On Top

Packaging- The Lakme 9 to 5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip & Cheek Color lipsticks come in rose-gold cardboard boxes which house the pinkish tubes with rose gold screw caps. The shade names are written at the bottom of the tubes. The packaging is quite similar to any other liquid lipstick packaging. Like any other product from Lakme’s 9 to 5 range, this is also very attractive in terms of looks. The applicator is leaf-shaped which ensures a perfect application as it reaches the corners of the lips easily. The pointy tip is perfect to shape your lips.

Lakme 9to5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip & Cheek Color Burgundy Lush Review| Cherry On Top

Shade- The shade that I got is Burgundy lush which is a beautiful brown-toned red. The warmth of this shade would flatter most Indian skin tones. The dark, brick-red shade is perfect for the winters. It would be great for Christmas celebrations and also for the weddings.

Pigmentation- Lakme 9 to 5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip & Cheek Color Burgundy Lush is intensely pigmented. Only one swipe of it gives an opaque coverage. It perfectly conceals dark patches on the lips.

Lakme 9to5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip & Cheek Color Burgundy Lush Swatch

Texture- As you can tell from the name of the lipsticks, they have a mousse-like texture. This unique texture gives them an airy, light-weight feel which makes them really comfortable to wear. They are so light that it feels you have nothing on your lips. I have the Miss Claire Soft Matte lipsticks which are the alleged dupes of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. Although I haven’t tried all the shades, but comparing the two that I have I can say that the Miss Claire Soft Mattes are definitely denser than the Lakme 9 to 5 Matte Mousse Lip & Cheek  Color. These lip & cheek colors are super blendable. Although they take a few seconds to set so you have to be really quick with them while applying. Apart from that, they blend quite easily and seamlessly giving you a subtle flush on the cheeks.

Staying Power- These two-way blush cum lipsticks has a pretty good staying power. On my lips, it stays for good 5-6 hours at a stretch. After that, it starts to fade away from the centre of the lips. For me, it survived a full-course dinner, with a little fading. Although it is not completely transfer-proof or smudge-proof, it doesn’t bleed either.

My Experience with Lakme 9 to 5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip & Cheek Color Burgundy Lush

Lakme 9to5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip & Cheek Color Burgundy Lush on Medium Skin tone

Overall, I am quite happy with the one I got from the range. I do like their texture, blendability and staying power. The shade that I got, Burgundy Lush, is so gorgeous and it compliments my skin tone a lot. Being a mousse texture the lipsticks are not as drying as the other liquid lipsticks but it’s definitely not moisturising either. I have dry lips and it starts to get really dry on my lips from an hour after the application. It clings to the lips, accentuating the dryness. Those who have extremely dry lips should totally skip this.

The good things are that these lipsticks do not settle into the fine lines, they do not bleed and they are extremely comfortable to wear. These lipsticks are not completely transfer-proof. They are beautifully packaged, travel-friendly and they fit into your purse. I have combination skin and my cheeks are usually very oily most of the time. This lipstick as a blush lasted on my skin for 3-4 hours. I generally not into cream blushes but this one blends really well and gives a natural flush to the cheeks. I wish it lasted a little longer. Removing this lipstick is really easily. Just take some makeup remover onto a cotton round and hold it on your lips for 30 seconds and then wipe it away.

I would recommend these Lakme 9 to 5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip & Cheek Colors if you like liquid lipsticks but want to try a less-drying version. Have you tried them? What are your views? Let me know if you try. Will talk to you in my next post. Till then, be safe & keep smiling!

Street Wear Color Rich Ultra Moist Lipstick- Pink Persuasion| Review, Swatch, Price| Cherry On Top Blog

Hi guys, hope you are doing well. Today, I am going to present to you a much awaited review. I think I have posted a sneak-peek of this about 3 months ago on my Facebook page but did not get a chance to write. So, I thought of posting it today. Today’s review is of one of my favourite lipsticks that is the Street Wear Color Rich Ultra Moist Lipstick in the shade Pink Persuasion.

If you guys know me then you must know how much I love lip colours. I don’t step out without putting my favourite lip color on. I mostly love matte shades but they usually tend to dry my lips out during the colder months of the year so I like to replace my matte lipsticks with the moisturizing ones. I make sure to apply the lipsticks that are creamy but not glossy. I found this range of lipsticks from Steer Wear that is perfect for me. I got the shade Pink Persuasion for me because when it comes to lipsticks I have an inclination towards pinks. You might have seen this lipstick in my Aplava Haul post. I have been loving this lipstick since then and have started using continuously from the beginning of this month. Now, let’s jump into the review-
Price- Rs 220

The shade, Pink Persuasion is a part of the re-launched range of Ultra Moist lipsticks by Street Wear. This range was primarily priced at Rs 180 but now it retails for Rs 220.

Packaging- The lipstick bullet is housed in a pretty, black, plastic packaging with a clear cap which has a pop-art print on it. This makes the packaging really attractive. The packaging somehow reminds me of The Balm packaging. I felt the packaging is not that sturdy. Plus, the lipstick does not complete go inside the bullet which I feel is really annoying because then there is a possibility of damage when you try to put the cap on.

Street Wear Color Rich Ultra Moist Lipstick- Pink Persuasion| Review, Swatch, Price| Cherry On Top Blog

Street Wear Color Rich Ultra Moist Lipstick- Pink Persuasion| Review, Swatch, Price| Cherry On Top Blog

Shade- Pink Persuasion is a very wearable rosy pink with a hint of coral. The subtlety of the shade makes it appropriate for any occasion such as office, party or dates be it daytime or night time. Because of the red undertone, it can suit every complexion very well.

Texture/ Pigmentation/Wear Time- The texture of the lipstick is very creamy. It glides on really easily and does not settle into creases. It moisturizes the lips really well thus it is perfect for those who have dry lips throughout the year. It’s a perfect pick for winter time as we tend to have chapped lips during this time of the year.

The pigmentation is surprisingly good for the price you pay. It covers up my dark upper lip well with 2-3 coats. It manages to give an decent finish on the first swipe. You can build up the colour for more intensity.

The staying power of this lipstick is also good for such a low price. It lasts about good 3-4 hours on my lips without eating and drinking anything.

Ups-

  • Universally flattering shade.
  • Creamy texture that gives out a semi-matte finish after application.
  • Lightweight formula.
  • Moisturizes lips very well.
  • Doesn’t settle into creases.
  • Decently pigmented.
  • Buildable colour.
  • Has a decent wear time.
  • Available in stores and leading e-commerce sites.

Downs-

  • The packaging must have been more sturdy.
  • I wish I had a longer staying power.

Overall, I am happy with my purchase. It comes handy whenever I fail to decide on the perfect lipstick. It’s more like a tinted lip balm that feels light on m lips yet giving the right amount of tinge for an everyday look. For a tinted-lip-balm-and-mascara person like me it’s a best option that too within budget.

Do you own any of the Street Wear lippies?
Which is your favourite shade?

Hello all, hope you all are doing great. As you know, I was MIA for quite a long time. Actually, my grandfather passed away earlier this month and I was preoccupied with all the rituals and responsibilities. I couldn’t get the time to sit for hours and write blog posts. Sorry for that guys. Nevertheless, I am back in action once again and hoping to get into that writing phase all over again.
Today, I would be reviewing two neutral lip colours from the ELF Studio matte range. The two shades are- Natural and Tea Rose. I have shared these lippies in my iHerb.com haul post. Now let’s jump to the review-
These Matte Lip Colors have a creamy matte formula. It’s not a drying, powdery matte but quite moisturizing on the lips. I loved the fact that this lip colors don’t settle in the fine lines nor they accentuate dryness. It may feel a little dry during the winters, but it won’t be flaky. Before using any lip product I love to use a lip balm beneath. This is not only because my lips tend to get dry frequently, but also because I am habituated to this process.
These Lip Colors stays on the lips for almost 5-6 hours. They don’t bleed, but transfer a bit and they don’t leave any tinge to the lips after wiping off. Applying these lipsticks is very easy as the formula is really creamy and smooth and they glide on the lips effortlessly. Just one swipe is all you need to get an opaque finish, but I love to apply it twice to get a wonderful result. The thing I loved most in this Lip Colors is that they are so light weight. It feels like I don’t have anything on my lips. That is surely a good thing.

ELF Matte Lip Color- Natural

Natural is a n*dish shade with slight pink undertone. I’d say that it might wash out most of the Indian skin tones. I have medium wheatish skin tone with slightly dark lips and Natural looks way too paler than my lip colour. That is not that kind of n*de you’ll like to have. But, it would suit paler skin tones, people with pink undertones. Not a proper n*de for yellow or olive undertones. I love to use this lip colour to conceal my uneven toned lips before applying any light lip shade. It helps to pop out the actually shade. Below are some pictures of Natural-

ELF Matte Lip Color- Tea Rose

Tea Rose is also a neutral shade with slight hint of mauve. I felt Tea Rose is a little creamier than Natural. This is also another pale shade but it doesn’t wash me out. If you have a heavy makeup on your eyes or smoky eyes, this shade will go well with it. You can apply a gloss on top of it to give it more depth. Below are some pictures of Tea Rose-

Ups and Downs of ELF Matte Lip Colors-

Ups:
  • Classy packaging.
  • Perfect creamy matte formula.
  • Very light weight on lips.
  • Moisturizing.
  • Stays for quite a good time.
  •  Doesn’t feather out or smudge off.
  • Decently pigmented.

Downs:
  • Might not be appropriate for every Indian skin tone.
  • Has a mild wax-like smell, but it can be avoided. Smell doesn’t linger after application.
  • NOT available in India.

All I have to say is- ELF Matte Lip Colors are worth giving a try if you are a neutral-lover. I think these shades should be in every makeupista’s kitty. I know we don’t usually do heavy eye make-ups, then you can use these lippies as base, for they are super creamy and moisturizing or you can use these for eliminating dark patches from your lips. They are super inexpensive yet perfectly formulated. I am not sure about Natural but I am surely going to keep Tea Rose with me.

My Rating- 3.5/5

I hope you liked this review. Feel free to let me know your opinion. What is your favourite neutral lipstick?

Hello everyone, today’s review is on my favourite of the Revlon Matte Balms and it is the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm Sultry. If you are following me on FaceBook you would know I have shared a picture of a Shopperstop package and asked you to guess what I got for myself. Today, I am sharing it. How can I be left behind while the whole nation is raving about the Revlon Matte Balms that has been recently launched in Indian market along with the other variant i.e. Lacquer Balms! When I first saw international beauty bloggers reviewing Matte Lip Crayons and swatching the Matte Balms, I was head over heels in love with the lovely shades. As I was preparing my list for the shades I was about to procure from the U.S., I heard the good news. The super-gorgeous lippies were introduced to India!

I have used their Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains and loved them. As a matte lipstick lover, I got to try out the Matte Balms. There are 8 scrumptious shades, from pinks to reds, plums to browns. I had shortlisted 3 shades from this range, among which, two were pink. Not all pinks suit my skin tone so without taking any risk I chose the 3rd one, which is named as Sultry.

Packaging: These Matte Balms come in a wonderful matte packaging. It comes in a pencil/crayon kind of form with a twist-up bottom and a tight cap. You don’t need to sharpen them, only twist the bottom.

Shade: I am really bad at describing colours, but I will try to do it for you. Sultry is actually a mixture of matte pink, plum and brown, as my eyes can identify. Whatever it is, I like it very much. It will suit almost all Indian skin tones.

Product (Texture, Pigmentation & Staying power): The product is very creamy in texture and easily glides on the lips. It gives a decent coverage in a single swipe and goes absolutely opaque in two swipes. You don’t need to layer it but if you want to make it more intense, you can always layer it up. It doesn’t give you the powdery, drying matte effect, it actually has a velvety matte formula which doesn’t let your lips dry out. I have a tendency to eat up my lipsticks, nothing stays on my lips more than 2-3 hours, does that happen to any of you or I am the only one with this feature on this planet?!

Anyways, this lipstick stays on for good 3-4 hours on me, can stay a little bit more on others. It transfers a little when touched. Doesn’t feather out or doesn’t leave any stain behind when wiped off.

Ups:

Stylish, sturdy, matte packaging.
Travel-friendly.
No need to sharpen.
A lovely shade that would suit any Indian skin tone.
Creamy yet matte finish, good for Indian summer and this horrid humidity.
Decent wear-time, almost 3-4 hours.
Nice coverage, eliminates dark patches and uneven tone decently.
Easily available on any Shoppers Stop outlet, can be found online at Shoppersstop.com.
Downs:

A little transferrable.
Will make a hole in your pocket.

All I have to say is: If you have loved Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains and if you love matte lip crayons, you must go for the Revlon Matte Balms. Those who love hint of pink on their lips without going crazy and aren’t actually very adventurous with lipsticks can definitely get a hold of this lipsticks. This range has 9 other lovely shades to choose from- Elusive, Unapologetic, Standout, Audacious, Striking, Shameless, and Mischievous.

My Rating: I will deduct 2 points for the excessively high price. Thus, it will get an 8/10 rating from me.

Will I buy it again?Though I love the shade and the formula very much but I don’t have any plan to buy it again. If I make my mind, I will mind any other shade from this range. I am waiting for a discount now.

Hello all! Today I am going to review a lipstick that I got in my November Vellvette/Fab Bag. This is going to be my first time posting lip swatches.

I am a self-proclaimed lipstick junkie and I mean it. I love wearing lipsticks and love collecting them too. So, whenever I get lipsticks in my Fab Bags, I thank them from the bottom of my heart. I got some lovely stuffs in my November Bag, among them, was this lipstick. Now, let’s move on to the review.

Product Category– Lipstick
Brand– Flormar
Price– 700INR for 3gms

Flormar is a name that was totally unfamiliar to me. When I got this lipstick, I needed to ferret about it. What I found is, Flormar is a brand that was created in 1950 Milan and it is a part of the French Cosmetics company, Yves Rocher.

Claims- Special formula enriched with Argan oil, Vitamin E, Omega 6; Cacao butter; gives a unique and translucent appearance and glossy reflection while making it ultra-hydrating and nourishing for your lips leaving lips soft and supple without any greasiness.

Packaging- This lipstick comes in a very pretty packaging. It’s classy and sleek and travel friendly too. I like the Black tube packaging and the pink scribble on it. I think the packaging is the only stuff I loved about this lipstick so much.

Shade- The shade is very hard to describe. This is kind of a bright orange-y tone with a red tinge. I hope I have made you understand. If not, please forgive me, I am very bad in describing colours and scents 😛

My Experience– Flormar Deluxe Shine Gloss lipstick is more a gloss than a lipstick. Initially I was quite impressed by the product, but later on I was sick of it. It doesn’t give enough coverage to your pigmented lips. For me, as I have a highly pigmented upper lip, this doesn’t at all work for me when applied alone. I need to either conceal my lips or use a lipstick/lip-liner of similar shade before applying the product. I generally use it as a gloss on top of a lipstick. This product has a lot of down points. First of all, it’s staying power. This lipstick stays for a good 1-2 hours, but after that you need to reapply it. Secondly, this product is so buttery that it starts melting inside the tube. So, there is no way of keeping it in your purse for a whole day. I keep it in the fridge and I sometimes feel like I am keeping it in life-support. But on the brighter note, it keeps my lips hydrated and feels like I have butter on my lips.

Ups:
  • Stylish packaging.
  • Keeps the lips hydrated.
  • Looks good if used on top of a matte lipstick.
  • Has Argan oil and Vitamin E.

Downs:

  • Doesn’t give enough coverage.
  • Bad staying power.
  • Transfers.
  • Overpriced.

Would I buy it again
– Not at all.

Spending 700 bucks for a less pigmented ‘lipstick’ (read lip-balm) is so unreasonable in my opinion. I would not suggest buying this.

P.S.– As I’ve mentioned before, this is my first time doing lip-swatches. I hope you liked it. As I am a first-timer and in learning phase now, I would love to get some tips from you on how I can improve myself. Thanks for reading this post throughout. Good night 🙂
