Blogging 101: Are You Ready Enough to Start A Blog?

Hi, guys! As I told you earlier, I have plans to start a couple of new segments on this blog. Earlier, I had introduced a new section called Celeb Style and today I am going to introduce another new segment which is Blogging 101. I get tonnes of questions regarding blogging on almost all my social media platforms but is not possible for me to answer all of them individually. And, there are so many things involved in blogging which is practically impossible to discuss online and through messages. That is why I thought of creating a separate segment on my blog solely for newbie bloggers and/or for those who are planning to start their own blog.

In this post, I am going to start from the very beginning which is to determine if there is a blogger inside you or not. I think it is very important to start with a sorted mind rather than make a start and then create a mess out of it. Although there is no set rules for blogging, but if you are planning to take blogging seriously or if you want to make it your profession then you need to go through a self-examination. In this post, I am going to bombard you with a bunch of questions that you must ask before you start blogging.

1. Do You Love Writing?

Blogging is all about writing. You must know that blogs are like online journals where you express yourself through words. If writing doesn’t come spontaneously to you or you have difficulties to express yourself through words, I think you should think twice before starting a blog. I have seen new bloggers without any idea of grammar and punctuation trying so hard to establish a point. Honestly, I don’t feel like reading these posts because I have to put a lot of efforts to mentally correct the errors and read. I am not being a grammar nazi here. I am just trying to say that most of the people tend to read blogs while on the go. They are more up for a relax read. A text full of errors will only leave them with displeasure.

2. Why Blogging?

The most important question to ask yourself before becoming a blogger. Bloggers are a kind of influencers who have that ability to create an impact on their readers with their writing. For example- a fashion blogger should have the talent to create something new, something fresh in order to encourage people to embrace their style or create a style. A beauty blogger should have an explicit idea about the beauty and makeup industry and the products they recommend. It is important to be clear about what you are doing and be confident about your skills. Remember, people are spending time on reading blogs just for the quality of the content. There is no way of being dishonest.

3. Is Blogging Your Hobby or Passion?

Now, both of them are completely fine until you decide to make blogging a profession. If you think blogging is more than just a hobby for you then you must act like that. You must not limit yourself by just posting but you will need to think about SEO, social media marketing and branding. There is nothing wrong if blogging is just your hobby. It is also not wrong if you want to make some money out of your skill only until it becomes the sole reason for becoming a blogger.

4. Are You Clear about Your Niche?

Whatever you are planning to do, you should be clear in your head. Your niche should be clear to you and to your reader. Before you even start writing and developing your content, you will need a domain name to establish your blog’s identity that is related to your niche. Finding Cheap Domains can be an important first step, as it allows you to secure your online address without a significant investment, so you can focus on the core content.

If you are planning to make a beauty and fashion blog, try to stick to your niche rather than writing in multiple genres. I tried to do the same with my first blog and failed. Writing in various genres makes it really stressful for the writer and it becomes hard to get a target audience. My suggestion would be to stick to a certain niche.

5. Who You Think Would Read Your Blog?

It is really important to find out and understand your target audience. As soon as you discover your target audience, you will be clear about the topics that you should serve on your blog. The more you understand your audience the more precise you could be with your work.

6. Why Do You Think People Should Read Your Blog?

Another important question to ask yourself before the final decision. Zillions of blogs on trillions of niches are there on the internet. Only a single niche can have millions of blogs under it. This makes is very important to work hard and serve something different. Your readers should get something on your blog that they don’t find anywhere else. The key is not just to gain readers but to hold them with your content. Your content should be unique and fresh.

7. Can You Commit to be Consistent?

Content and consistency are the keys to a good blog that gets noticed. Posting quality content is not enough in order to become a successful blogger. It takes time and hard work. It took me two and a half year of struggle, research and regularity to reach this place. As they say, there is no shortcut to success! If you get tired and disheartened very easily then blogging is not for you. It takes a lot of effort, continuous hard work and the ability to accept failure to become a blogger. Trust me, it’s not easy but it’s not impossible either. You just need to have faith in yourself and in your work and you’ll need people who have your back.

8. Would You Be Continuing this If You Don’t Get Enough Traffic?

The journey from a writer to a blogger is no cakewalk. It takes a lot of effort. Not every day is bright and sunny in blogging, there would be thunderstorms too. The question is, are you able to withstand the storm? There were days when I used to get five or ten views a day. That certainly is disheartening, I got upset but then I focused on my content and ended up having a decent viewership. If you want to become successful in blogging then you must have patience, self-confidence and an urge to improve yourself.

As I said earlier, there is not set rules for blogging. You should be doing what your heart says. These questions are for those who want to make blogging a profession or a full-time job. If you are serious about what you are doing then nothing can stop you from becoming a successful blogger. Although I don’t consider myself as a successful blogger nor a professional one, I am just trying to reach that destination. I just wanted to share what I have learnt in these years of blogging, from my mistakes and failures.

The packaging, formulation and longevity of the Nykaa So Matte Fall/Winter Collection lipsticks are exactly same as their regular So Matte collection. So, I am not going to make this post a lengthy one just by writing the same words. Among a huge range of shades, I chose to pick two (almost) nude/neutral shades because I have been loving neutrals these days. Caramel Margarita is a very warm-toned brown that again would suit all Indian skin tones. I love this shade the most.

Overall, I love these two shades from the Nykaa So Matte Fall/Winter Collection. These two shades suit most Indian skin tones, these are perfect for everyday wear, these are perfect for both daytime and night time, these are hydrating, creamy, easy to apply, give a smooth and even pigmentation, last for almost 4-5 hours. These lipsticks do not bleed but they do transfer (obviously, because they are not completely matte). I feel very comfortable wearing these lipsticks. You can check out the entire collection here.

New Skin18.com Sheet Masks | My Experience

Hello, everyone! Today’s post is a long pending review on some of the sheet masks that I got from Skin18.com. If you don’t know what Skin18.com is all about then do check out My Haul from Skin18.com & Mini Review. In this post, I am going to talk about three more Skin18.com sheet masks that I tried. It’s been ages since I used them up which you might know if you follow me on Snapchat. I mostly share my first impressions on new products there. Now that I am all done with the testings, I have decided to sit down and talk about them. So, let’s start-

The new Skin18.com sheet masks that I got are these three- Cracare Anti-Aging Snail Repairing Mask, Mirum Fresh Fruit Pomegranate Real Nature Mask Pack and Luke Green Tea Essence Mask. Now, I am going to briefly talk about all of them.

My Experience with the New Skin18.com Sheet Masks

CraCare Anti-Aging Snail Repairing 3 Steps Mask ($2.90)

This basically is a 3-step facial treatment that is meant to firm your skin and lighten your complexion. This pack comes with an Active Ampule that is the first step, the second step is an Essence Mask and the concluding step is a Night Cream. You have to apply the Active Ampule so as to prep your skin for the next step. The Active Ampule is a silky, lightweight cream that needs to be absorbed into your skin especially around your eyes and lips before the second step which is the sheet mask. The mask is drenched with a slightly gloppy essence. The instruction says to put on the mask for about 20-30 minutes although I think it might have been there for an hour without drying.

When I removed the mask after 30 minutes, the essence was still there on my skin. The remaining essence is meant to be massaged into the skin. It takes no time to get absorbed completely without making the skin oily. Then, the final step is to apply the Night Cream. The Night Cream is again a creamy textured product, a little bit thicker than the Active Ampule. However, it gets absorbed into the skin quickly and keeps the skin well moisturised and nourished till the next morning.

I love this stuff because it is hydrating, non-greasy, makes the skin visibly brighter and provides a healthy glow, the skin looks and feels smooth, soft and supple the next morning. It does not quite work well to lift or firm my facial skin. Also, it did not do anything to the pores. You can definitely use it if you have a special occasion and want a glowing skin without putting much effort in brightening it up. Also, it has snail slime extract which is great for your skin as it is full of nutrients like hyaluronic acid, glycoprotein enzymes, antimicrobial and copper peptides and proteoglycans.  It stimulates the production of elastin and collagen. A lot of Korean skincare product has snail extracts in them like the ElishaCoy Skin Repairing Skin Cream that I had talked about in the past.

Mirum Fresh Fruit Pomegranate Real Nature Mask Pack ($1.25)

This sheet mask contains pomegranate extract that is responsible for restoring the elasticity of the skin. This particular mask sheet is made of 100% natural cotton which is great. This mask is meant for all type of skin. This mask takes care of the dry and tired skin as well and can be applied every day. Pomegranate extract is great for tightening your skin and making it look younger. You have to apply this mask to a cleansed and toned face for about 15-20 and you can see a difference instantly after removing it.

The essence has a cooling property and it gets absorbed into the skin quickly. It gives a boost of hydration to the skin instantly. You can feel your skin become soft and supple right after using it. The essence is non-oily. This mask causes no skin irritation or breakouts. I wish they had the instructions written in English at the back of the pack.

Luke Green Tea Essence Mask ($1.65)

As you can tell it from the name of the mask, it contains green tea extract. Green tea has manifold benefits to it. To start with, it is packed with antioxidants that fight premature ageing, restores damaged cell, works great to prevent breakouts and so on. This mask specially formulated with green tea extract to firm your skin and minimise the appearance of fine lines.

The essence penetrates deep into the skin and revitalises and hydrates it, makes your skin look and feel healthy from within, soothes and refreshes the skin, makes it soft and improves elasticity. Although it made my skin very supple, it did not do anything dramatic to make it look firmer or younger. This mask also did not cause any breakout or skin allergy.

It’s been more than a week since I started using the Himalaya Herbals Rich Cocoa Butter Body Cream and I can tell you that I am completely in love with this. Quality wise, I think it would be fair enough to compare this body cream with the body butters I used from The Body Shop. The formulation is definitely richer than the Rich Cocoa Intensive Body Lotion, but it feels very light-weight on the skin and definitely does not make it greasy. Although it is a thick consistency, but it also has a fast-absorbing formula which I love about it. The ingredients contain herbal actives and Himalaya Herbals is a brand that can be relied on when it comes to their ingredients.

The key ingredient of this body cream is Cocoa butter which is known to work wonders for dry skin. The intense emollient property of Cocoa butter nourishes and moisturizes the skin and makes it soft and supple. The Vitamin E in it protects the skin from any external harm that is caused by the sun or pollution. The hydration lasts for a really long time. The longest I had it on my skin was for 9 to 9 and a half hours which is pretty satisfying for me. I would definitely buy another tub as soon as it is finished. The Rich Cocoa Butter Lip Balm was another of my favourites from this range. The I would highly recommend you guys to try it out yourself if you are looking for a body butter that matches the quality of a TBS body butter but in a cheaper price.

We all envy the closets of our favourite stars or the outfits they wear in a particular movie. So, I thought of decoding their styles for you and find you similar but inexpensive items so that you get inspired by or replicate the outfits yourselves. The internet is full of these types of articles. I love reading them and even got inspired by some of them when I was a teenager. So, I thought of creating the same for my own lovely readers. From now on, I will be decoding celebrity styles in different movies and post them under the ‘Celeb Style‘ category. Today’s post will be all about decoding Shraddha Kapoor’s style in the movie Ok Jaanu.

I loved Shraddha Kapoor’s style in Ok Jaanu. The movie is out and a lot of you must have watched it. I haven’t watched the movie yet. I have watched the trailer a couple of times and loved Shraddha’s signature style in the movie. From her makeup to her wardrobe, it is all about basics and casuals which I loved because it is quite similar to my own style. I always prefer wearing casual and comfy clothes whenever I go out. One of the poster’s had this killer outfit by Shraddha Kapoor and I am absolutely digging it. In this picture, Shraddha is wearing a black cut-out top and a pair of black and white vertical striped trousers. I have used this TBC by Nature Honey & Almond Winter Care Nourishing Cream for a couple of weeks to know if it suits me or not, mainly because I wanted to share a detailed review with you guys. Eventually, it has become one of my favourites as I have mentioned earlier. I am not a fan of cold creams as they make my skin greasy in the name of ‘glow’. I have had a few bad experiences with different brands previously. But, the TBC by Nature Honey & Almond Winter Care Nourishing Cream is an exception. It is definitely not the most light-weight cream I have ever used but it definitely is a fast-absorbing yet very moisturising cold cream. Although I haven’t tested the 24-hour long-lasting test (Obviously!), but it keeps the skin hydrated for a long time. The best thing about the cream is that it is free from parabens. Also, it has SPF 15 in it so you don’t need a separate sunscreen! What I don’t like about this cream is that although it does not make the skin look oily initially but with time I can observe a little bit oiliness around my t-zone. I won’t recommend this cream to those who have oily to very oily skin. Those who have combination skin can make it work in the coldest months. I think this cream is ideal for those who have very dry, flaky skin during winters. To sum up, I want to say that TBC by Nature Honey & Almond Winter Care Nourishing Cream is a great formula for the price you pay. Check out their Facebook Page for more.

In this post, I am going to show you how I styled my bow-tie that I got from the Indian Bow Tie Company. First of all, let me tell you a little bit about this bow-tie. So, this bow-tie is from their new collection which is the 2016 collection. I really love the snakeskin pattern on this. This particular design had been everywhere throughout 2016- from shoes to purses to dresses. I feel this design gives a very edgy and classy look to the entire outfit. This snakeskin bow-tie is made of pure cotton fabric and has buttons on the two sides as closure.

Now, to my outfit. I wore this full-sleeved oversized sweater and paired it up with a pair of slightly faded blue jeans. I really loved the colour of the sweater. I had worn too much black for the past two winters so I thought of bringing back some lively colours to my life (read closet). I love baggy, oversized sweaters. They are the comfiest thing in the world. This particular sweater has thickly knitted and keeps you warm and cosy.

I kept my hair in place for about 10 hours! I could have hardly believed this if it wasn’t me who experienced it. For 10 long hours, my hair stayed in place, no flyaways, no frizz, no tangles. The shine and the softness remain till the next wash. I am utterly impressed by the product and I would definitely recommend you guys to give it a shot.

The best thing is that it does all the good work without weighing down the hair or making it look or feel greasy. It maintains the volume of the hair and does not make it limp. I am utterly impressed by the product and I would definitely recommend you guys to give it a shot.

I have been using this product for almost a month now and I can definitely say that it has become the most favourite part of my winter skincare. If you have normal to dry skin or if you have combination skin that gets dry during winters then this product is for you. I use it twice a day before moisturizing my skin. Before starting off with my experience with the Vichy Aqualia Thermal Dynamic Hydration Serum, I jus want to let you know a little bit more about my skin and its concerns. I generally have a combination skin which means normal skin with an oily t-zone. During most part of the year, it behaves like that but during winters it becomes very dry. Sometimes I observe the appearance of dry patches or skin peeling around my mouth and my nose. Last year, I had a hard time dealing with a couple of dry patches around my lips which was really irritating. I do not usually get acne on my face except for that time of the month or if I get any kind of anxiety or stress or if I skip my skincare routine which is a rare case.

The Vichy Aqualia Thermal Dynamic Hydration Serum is really hydrating as you can guess from the name itself. At least for my skin type, this product hydrates my face enough for it to need any extra moisturizer. Those who have very dry skin must apply a moisturizer. Although I do not skip on my moisturizer , it keeps my face moisturized for good 9-10 hours when applied on its own. As it gives a nice hydration, it can be used as a multipurpose skincare product in summers.

Not only the Vichy Aqualia Thermal Dynamic Hydration Serum gives a surge of hydration to the skin, but it also replenishes the skin, improves the skin texture and makes it soft and supple for a long time. You can definitely notice a healthy glow on your face after using it. I won’t say that it has brought about a dramatic change to my skin but it has definitely improved it a bit. This year, I did not observe any kind of dry-patches or skin peeling on my skin which was severe last year. To add more, Vichy Aqualia Thermal Dynamic Hydration Serum is hypoallergenic, free from parabens, non-comedogenic, non-oily and safe for sensitive skin. The only bad thing about this product is that it contains silicone.
