As you would know, Restaurant Week India, 2016 has started in Kolkata and is about to end in a few days. Read the pre-event listing here. I am a big foodie. This is the only reason why I became really excited when Restaurant Week India invited me to taste some special menu for the event. They gave me a few choices of restaurants in the city among which I chose Yauatcha. The reason why I chose Yauatcha is, I have heard a lot of rave about this restaurant from my foodie friends and secondly, I wanted to try some food from the city’s first Michelin Star restaurant. I took my sister along with me.

We had a table booked for us by RWI team for lunch. As soon as we entered the restaurant, we were escorted to our table by a staff. After we made ourselves comfortable, the manager (I am really sorry, I can’t remember names :/) came to us to know if we are comfortable there. We were served welcome drinks. Mine was a Lime and Passion fruit drink and my sister got a Strawberry one. At this moment, the manager introduced us to the chef, Kushal Lama (I remember his name because I have his business card). After exchanging greetings, he explained us all about Yauatcha, its start, the menu and what they aim to. Yauatcha is a pure Cantonese restaurant, opened in Soho, London in 2004. It’s first branch in India was opened in Mumbai. Without further ado, let’s get into the most important part of this post, the menu or rather the special menu.

With Chef Kushal Lama of Yauatcha, Kolkata

The Restaurant Week India special menu at Yauatcha is divided into three parts which is the three course- appetizers, main course and dessert. You get a choice to choose one from each menu along with staples like rice/noodles for RS 900/- per person (tax extra). Honestly, I have no idea about Cantonese food and I did not want to mess up my experience by experimenting, so I asked the chef to suggest which dish should we go with. The chef was really happy to do that for us.

Crispy Prawn Cheung Fun in Light Soya Sauce

So, from the appetizer menu, he suggested us to try the dumplings and the cheung fun which are their specialties. He suggested the Wrapped Chicken in Pakchoi with Szechuan Sauce and the Crispy Prawn Cheung Fun. The first one is a steamed dumpling where Pakchoi which is a Chinese green is filled with diced chicken and yam bean and then steamed and served with szechuan sauce. The second one is basically a roll in which steamed rice paper is wrapped around crispy fried prawn dipped in tempura batter and served with sweet soya sauce. Both of the dishes had a very subtle flavour to them. I loved the Crispy Prawn Cheung Fun a lot and I would recommend you guys to try it out. The steamed outer part and crispy inner part gives it a very unique texture which I loved. My sister, on the other hand liked the dumpling more.

Chicken and Egg White Fried Rice

For the main course, chef Lama asked us for our choices and we wanted to go for a prawn dish and a lamb dish. We went for the Sliced Lamb in Kam Heong Sauce and Stir Fry Prawns in Home Town Chili Sauce. The lamb was tossed with diced veggies like yellow bell peppers and onion and the Kam Heong sauce.  I found the lamb a little chewy. It was not as soft and juicy as I would like it to be. Both of us liked the prawn more. The prawn was blanched and then tossed with some veggies and the Home Town sauce which is a little spicy and tangy. I must say this dish hit all the right notes. We had also ordered the Chicken and Egg Fried Rice along with these two dishes.

Chocolate Hazelnut Mousse

For dessert, we had only four options among which we both agreed for the Chocolate Hazelnut Mousse. Chocolate any day! This dessert was so blissful that the taste is still in my memory. It was actually a mousse served with ice-cream. I haven;t tried anything more divine than this in a long time.

We both enjoyed our food and the overall experience was really good. The chef was always there by the side to assist us learning about what we were eating. The entire staff was so soft-spoken and helpful and the ambiance of the restaurant was really peaceful.

We call the new editor Gutenberg. The entire editing experience has been rebuilt for media rich pages and posts. Experience the flexibility that blocks will bring, whether you are building your first site, or write code for a living.

It seems that Gutenberg has been a term of controversy in the world of WordPress lately. Hailed as the most significant change to WordPress 5.0 this year, the Gutenberg editor has received a positive response from web developers and regular folk alike. All of this power is making it awesome.

What does Gutenberg Change

The sole purpose of the Gutenberg editor is to provide an alternative to the current open text editor, not to mention the difficult-to-remember shortcodes, with an agile and visual user interface (UI). So, unlike the current WordPress editor, you don’t have to:

  • import images, multimedia and approved files from the media library or add HTML shortcodes;
  • copy and paste links for embeds;
  • write shortcodes for specialized assets of different plugins;
  • create featured images to be added at the top of a post or page;
  • add excerpts for subheads;
  • add widgets for content on the side of a page.

Consider a block as the most basic (therefore, smallest) unit of the new editor.

Only a quarter of young adults are financially literate. You don’t want to overwhelm them.

Shane Doe, Entrepreneur.

They will be the building blocks of WordPress 5.0. In other words, everything—including content, images, quotes, galleries, cover images, audio, video, headings, embeds, custom codes, paragraphs, separators and buttons—will turn into distinct blocks.

Because you can drag and drop each block, identifying these items and placing them on the page becomes a lot easier.

Tables? You got them.

Adding a table using custom HTML code was a tedious job. With the table block, however, the task is a lot easier. You are able to add and remove rows and columns of a table without coding.

Gutenberg ❤️ Columns

Finally, yes. Columns are available natively in WordPress now. You can align them normal, wide or full in full-width post styles.

Built for Modern Times!

Gutenberg was developed on GitHub using the WordPress REST API, JavaScript, and React.

Whether you’re baking or binge waching holiday movies, this soft and cozy baseball sweatshirt plus festive tie-front joggers and sparkle mule slippers is the perfect way to relax.

Designed with Love. Bundle of Style.

Warm up so you can chill out. This season’s must-have sherpa pullover looks and feels great with fair-isle joggers or jeggings if company comes over.

If you need to check the mail for holiday cards, wrap up in a cableknit scarf and hat.

More for Images

As of Gutenberg 0.5.0, you can now drag and drop images directly into an image block, just like you are used to with the visual editor. And there are several new alignments available with CheerUp.

Above is an image Align Full Width, that works with our Full Width post style.

Besides just having the standard blockquote which we have been using for years, they also have a new pull quote. And yes, pull quotes are different.

Just rocking it being aligned left.

It is also nice to see some variations on the positioning of the blocks. For years, the standard visual editor has given you the ability to align left, align center, align right, and assign no alignment.

With the Gutenberg WordPress editor, you can also align wide (as seen below), and align full-width.

Blocks are a great new tool for building engaging content. With blocks, you can insert, rearrange, and style multimedia content with very little technical knowledge.

A single block is nice—reliable, clear, distinct. Discover the flexibility to use media and content, side by side, driven by your vision. A single block is nice—reliable, clear, distinct. Discover the flexibility to use media and content, side by side, driven by your vision of the future.

More Gutenberg Blocks

Gutenberg comes with new buttons that work right out of the box with CheerUp.

Gutenberg is available as a plugin now, and soon by default in version 5.0 of WordPress. The classic editor will be available as a plugin if needed.

Whether you like it or not, Gutenberg is coming to WordPress 5.0. Do try to be a part of it.

Smashing Mag

Beautiful Cover Image!

There’s a lot more…

We can only show so many of the blocks without bloating the page to excessive size. There many more Gutenberg blocks that just work. And this is just the beginning. Very exciting times ahead.

Gutenberg is primed to shape the future of WordPress with v5.0 default editor. Do try to be a part of the ongoing discussion about it on the web. It will certainly help.

Hi all, I hope you are enjoying my posts these days. I am really glad to be regular with my blogging. It feels positive every day. It feels like I am making use of the time productively. I am really happy about it.

There were a few times when I have posted articles that I thought might help my teen readers in choosing the right college for an education. I have had a hard time choosing my dream stream of studies, thus, I know the crises one faces after high school. Different people with different opinions is what you will get in your life. Your parents might be wanting you to be a doctor, rest of the family might want you to be an engineer whereas you might be wanting a career totally different from everyone’s expectations. I know that people’s perspective have changed but there are some who would not change themselves no matter what. So, you should be strong enough to swim against the tide and sensible enough to take such decision.

Anyway, today I thought I should talk to you guys about a dream career option that a lot of girls (and boys, too) who have just finished their board exams might have. Yes, I am talking about Fashion Designing. Today, I will be talking about something that might help you get a place at the best fashion designing colleges in India. If you already have planned to take fashion designing as a career then you might have heard of AICET which is an abbreviation for All India Common Entrance Test.  AICET, an entrance test conducted by WLCI (Wigan and Leigh College, India) which is, one of the best creative schools in India. The courses are offered for both graduate and undergraduate students. 7 Changes You Need to Make to Reorganize Your Wardrobe for Spring/Summer| cherryontopblog.com

Hello all, hope you are doing well. As winter has bid us goodbye long ago and spring is almost over, so it is the time to usher summer- the brightest of all seasons. Last week, as a part of my Spring Cleaning, I was de-cluttering my wardrobe to organize my spring/summer clothes and found out that I have some ideas to share with you guys. Almost all of us are get puzzled when it comes to clean and organize your wardrobe. What to keep and what to throw out is the biggest question that keeps coming back to our minds. Today, I thought why not let you guys know what I am keeping in my spring/summer closet and what I am weeding out. I hope your wardrobe worries get reduced after reading this post. Let’s start-

7 Things You Should Keep in Your Spring/Summer Wardrobe

1. Say hello to Crop Tops

It is the time to bid adieu to your favourite loose sweaters and welcome the summery crop tops. I was not a crop top person even a few of months ago. I was not sure if I can ever pull off a crop top confidently. Despite the fact, I had ordered a crop top from Forever 21 last October. Recently, I found that out lying at the corner of my wardrobe, neglected. I thought of giving it a try and planned on to pair it with my palazzo pants. Guess what! I wear this combo almost all the time. For those who feel like I felt, if you guys are not comfortable with the little peek-a-boo, do try pairing your crop tops with high-waste pants or skirts.

2. Switch over to Flared Bottoms

I don’t like wearing denim during spring and summer. I love to switch over to the other options such as skirts, chinos or palazzos. Recently, I have discovered my love for palazzos. I have always been a little sceptical about wearing palazzos considering my short height but then the ‘try everything’ theory worked and I got a pair for myself. Now, I don’t even think of getting back to my jeans. Skirts and palazzos are the comfiest of all bottoms. You must try them for summers.

3. Make some space for Maxi Dresses

Believe it or not, Maxi Dresses could be your best friend for this Spring/Summer. I have grown a love for maxi dresses when I bought my first from Limeroad. I am planning on buying some more so that I can have one maxi dress for every occasion.

4. Bring back those Jumpsuits/Playsuits/Dungarees

When it comes to fashion with comfort, I can only think about jumpsuits. You can add as many of them as you want and you won’t get bored of them. I will suggest adding pastel shades to make your wardrobe look summery and also it will make you feel refreshed.

5. Layer up you outfits with Summer Jackets

I love layering my outfits. It gives every outfit an edge and something to break the mundaneness. I don’t do it during summers (you know how extreme Indian summer is), but in Spring, I love to do it. There are a few variety of items that you can use for layerings, such as summer jackets, shrugs, kimonos or even an over-sized shirt can play the role.

6. Replace your boots with Strappy Flats

Let’s admit, Winter is long gone. Those booties on your shoe rack are of no use now, unless you are a person who does not mind wearing boots in summers. It’s now time to bring back those forgotten heroes to work. In spring/summers, you need something that keeps your feet fresh and allows air to pass through your shoes. Sandals are the best for this season. I personally love wearing strappy sandals or ballerinas throughout the year.

7. Add bright Jewellery

If you love accessorizing yourself as much as I do then you cannot forget to add your favourite summer baubles to your wardrobe. I love wearing my dainty pieces all year round but I am really looking forward to getting some new jewellery in bright shades. Maybe I will try out some neons too!

If you are following me in any of my social medias then do send me some pictures of your organized summer closet. I would love to take a peek at your wardrobes. 5 Reasons to Shop Online| cherryontopblog.com
Guys, the shopping season is here! Valentine’s Day is almost here and a lot of us are still planning to shop for their loved ones. Today, I thought of talking about a few things that might be apt for this shopping season. I know there are a lot of people who still prefer to shop at the stores but I personally do not like the idea. Though for some particular things I need to visit the stores but 99% of the time I go for online shopping. It’s just my thing. I am going to share why I prefer online shopping over mall hopping.

1. No Queues, No Crowd.
The thing freaks me out the most when I go for shopping is the crowd. You can’t properly see an item and you have to make quick decisions or the item you eyed for will be gone, forever. I don’t like to be forced to choose things for purchase, to be pushed by the crowd in a store. That’s why I always prefer online shopping which allows you to shop from wherever you are, may be from your bedroom, wearing your PJs, listening to your favourite track. Ah, that’s my idea of shopping!

2. No Need to Roam around the Mall for One Piece of Garment.

Have you experienced something like this? Were you ever in search for something but couldn’t find it in the store you thought you might find it in? Well, that happened to me many times. I now don’t like searching for something in a mall rather, I search for it online. It gives me more chances to filter and find the one I want, if not the exact then the one very close to that.

3. Doorstep Delivery.

When you are shopping online, you don’t have to think about carrying the truckload of things you purchased. You just have to relax and wait for the doorbell to ring. Every time you receive a package, it’s like birthday presents from you to yourself. You are nothing less than a prince/princess!
5 Reasons to Shop Online| cherryontopblog.com

4. Discounts!!

The best thing about online shopping is the huge discounts that most of the e-commerce sites offer you throughout the year. A beauty/fashion blogger like me could not get anything better than this! Every week the e-shopping portals add some new collections from different brands. I am a student and I admit I don’t get enough pocket money to renew my wardrobe every season unless I get attractive deals. Some e-commerce sites also offer coupons or cashback offers which are great. Shop with IndusInd Bank credit card. I have to say this is the number one reason why I love shopping online.

5. Gift Anyone Across the Country without paying extra for Postal Services

This option has saved my life! You know how difficult is to gift someone residing far away from your place. I have most of my family members residing in different cities. Online shopping has become my rescuer now as I can send gifts to my friends and family without paying for postal services or courier services. I can order gifts with my own money to anywhere I like. Life couldn’t have been any simpler.
5 Reasons to Shop Online| cherryontopblog.com
So guys, here are the five reasons why I think online shopping is the best. What are your thoughts? Do you think I missed any point? Let me know in the comments! I’ll be back with another post very soon. Till then, be safe & keep smiling!

So, which one would you like to gift to your special one?
Oh holidays, the sweet blissful time when everyone is sinful. It is the season when we indulge in food and drinks and often neglect to care for our skin, hair and the amount of sleep we are having. What we eat and how we are sleeping is reflected the most on our skin and sometimes hair too.
Often we do not even notice the consequences until the season passes. What then? You can deal with these issues, recover and shine like a Christmas tree for months after the holidays. All you need is a couple of days of proper care to regain your beauty.
Here are some steps you can take to achieve that.
 Detox from the Inside!
Your hair, skin and organism have been exposed to harmful influences, both from the outside and inside. That is why you have to get rid of those toxins endangering your health and appearance by detoxification.
Boost Your Beauty: How to Shine After the Holidays| Guest Post by Sophia Smith| cherryontopblog.com

First, you need to cleanse from the inside. Do that by banishing any unhealthy foods and stock your home with healthy ingredients. Start every day with some form of physical activity and by eating a healthy breakfast (cereals, fruits, yogurt, etc.). At nighttime you should consume lighter food. At lunch and dinner, eat lean protein, such as poultry and seafood.
Drink a lot of water and green or ginger tea. Start your day with one glass of water with lemon juice and a spoon of honey. Eat at least one fresh salad a day. Include some of the “detox wizards” (beets, cabbage, hazelnuts, avocado, almonds, etc.) in your diet.
Take Care of Your Skin
If you have had enough eggnog for the season, you should consider something less harmful for your skin. Opt for other wintery foods that are good for your health, such as sweet potatoes, cocoa and turkey.
Boost Your Beauty: How to Shine After the Holidays| Guest Post by Sophia Smith| cherryontopblog.com

Once you have made adequate changes within, you should start battling the damage from the outside. Avoid heavy makeup to give your skin time to rest. Choose organic products with fewer synthetic ingredients. Improve circulation and stimulate toxin release by your lymphatic system using dry-brushing.
Avoid harsh soaps and opt for pH neutral and chemical-free cleansing products. Use face masks which contain avocado and vitamin E. Choose a quality moisturizer with an SPF and apply it every day.
Recover Your Hair and Nails
Your hair is a sign of your overall health. Adequate nutrients in your diet are helping your hair and nails look beautiful and shiny. Sufficient amounts of vitamin B and calcium are exactly what you need to kickstart your hair recovery. You can get those nutrients by consuming dairy products and leafy greens, but you can also include calciumsupplements, to battle the calcium deficiency.
Boost Your Beauty: How to Shine After the Holidays| Guest Post by Sophia Smith| cherryontopblog.com

After you have taken care of your hair health within, the first thing you should do is to visit your hairdresser and cut the ends. Treat your hair with a scalp massage with essential oils or serum. Some celebrities, such as Miranda Kerr and Candice Swanepoel, use coconut oil to stimulate hair growth. Do not wash your hair more than three times a week, but opt for dry shampoo instead. Avoid hair straighteners and styling gels.
Also, you can improve your nail health by avoiding nail polish for some time and rubbing in olive oil to boost their recovery. Wear protective gloves when washing the dishes or performing some house chores which require the use of chemicals.
Holidays are a lovely time of the year. Still, they often lead to extremes which are only harming your health and appearance. Do not allow for that to happen. Fight back with a proper diet and a new beauty routine, and you will shine through the whole following year.

The alarm clock rings and before you can get accustomed to your surroundings, the voices in your head tell you to hit the snooze button.
For most, mornings can be a dreaded period. But it’s also the perfect opportunity to gather your thoughts before plunging headlong into the chaos that engulfs the outside world. If you manage to clear your mind and mentally prepare yourself for a great day, you’re going to make the most of it.

The Answer: Mindfulness

Most people switch to autopilot mode as soon as they wake up, where your brain instinctively navigates its way through the daily habitual patterns that you’ve established. In short, you’re able to go through your everyday routine without really paying any attention to what you’re doing.
Stray thoughts enter your mind, where they are entertained and nurtured. These musings tend to tire out your neurons, leaving you exhausted. The best way to avoid this, is to begin your day with mindful practices, where you’re focusing on what’s happening in the moment. Starting your day like that keeps you mentally prepared and relaxed for what’s ahead.
It might take a while to actually implement these practices, but try them out if you’re ever in need of a super-charged morning.

Light Meditation

As soon as you wake up, slowly sit up in bed, shut your eyes and breathe deeply. Focus on your breath and let any thoughts that enter your head stay in the background. Don’t try to eliminate them, just continue to focus on your breathing, and eventually, those stray thoughts will stop bothering you.

Even 5 minutes of meditation in the morning is like a shot of espresso. It’ll awaken your brain so that you can be fully aware of the next step.

Happy Melodies

Right after your mental trip, slip on your headphones, spend at least 15 minutes listening to a couple of songs that infuse you with pleasant feelings. It’ll put you in a happy mood before you can begin to ponder any of the challenges that you might encounter over the course of your day. That way, you’ll enter a more positive state of mind and be able to enjoy your next activity.

Brisk Jogging

When you’ve had your fill of music, throw on your running gear and get out of the house. You can jog to a particular location and back, or map out a circuit and do a couple of laps around it. Try to perform this activity for a good 20 minutes, or until you run out of breath. You’ll increase the blood flow to your muscles, charging your limbs with energy.

Spiritual Stretching

The final activity to wrap up this routine is yoga. All you need to do is find a great yoga guide online, and get started.

Learn the basics of this spiritual art form, and you can add the posture stretches to your morning routine. Yoga is like a culmination of all the previous activities; it involves focusing on your breath, being mindful, and physical exertion. It’s the best way to end your preparations and tackle the day that lies ahead.
This is just a basic rundown of what you can do in the morning to set the pace for the rest of your day. This entire routine shouldn’t take you longer than an hour, and it’ll leave you reinvigorated.

Hello guys! I hope you are doing great. Today, I will be reviewing a gift portal that has a large number of online gifts for several occasions. Today, I will be talking about a site named IGP. India is known to have several occasions throughout the year- Holi, Raksha Bandhan, Janmashtami, Durga Puja, Navratri, Eid, Diwali, Christmas and lots of other festivities. How can we forget about international ones like Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Women’s Day, etc. Birthdays and anniversaries are bonuses. So, it is obvious that we need to keep gifting quite frequently. IGP is a site that makes that bulk gifting possible.

With thousands of products across various categories, it is easy for you to choose the right gift. There is a long list of items, from home decor to personal care. The list also contains flower delivery, chocolates, cakes, apparel, stationery, kitchenware, beauty essentials, jewelry, and many more. They also ship across the world. Yes, they have international shipping. Isn’t that great?

What I liked most about IGP
  • International shipping.
  • Same-day delivery options
  • Secure payment method.
  • Preferred delivery is where you can choose the delivery date yourself.
  • Amazing range of products that suits every occasion and personality.
  • Hand-to-hand delivery for flowers and cakes
  • Personalized gifts.
  • Reasonably priced products
  • Easy navigation.
  • Easy return, refund, or order cancellation.
You can also search for the right gifts for the occasion just by entering the required data, which seemed very helpful to me. No one wants to get lost in the ocean of gifts. It saves you valuable time. For those who travel most of the time, you can set a delivery date yourself as per your preference.

Overall, I quite liked this website. With this, I don’t have to worry about gifting my precious ones, and I also don’t have to worry about sending flowers and chocolates to those who live far away from me. This awesome site has multiple payment options, and they have an SSL certificate enabled for the shopping cart and payment page, which makes your payment secure.

You can choose from a large variety of gifts for mother for Mother’s Day. I hope you find a lovely gift. Happy gifting!
