Vasu Sugar Scrub Review

You guys all know my undying love for scrubs. I also categorize them according to my preferences. Some I like on a daily basis, some on the days I pamper my skin and some for special occasions. Today, I am going to talk about the Vasu Sugar Scrub– a new face scrub that I recently came across. This scrub belongs to the last category I mentioned earlier. This particular product is a new addition to my skincare stash, however, the brand is not. I have previously used their Kumkumadi Thailam facial beauty oil. Will talk about it some other day. Today’s product in focus is the sugar scrub and I am already excited to know your views on this.

I know many of you have used sugar scrubs before but I want to know how many of you used them for your facial skin. I am wondering because I have always been sceptical about using any sugar-based exfoliants on my face as I always feared they might be too rough for the skin. I remember one such incident where I used a homemade sugar scrub on my face and I got dry patches on certain parts of the skin.  I have used them for my body many a time though. Had I not used the Vasu  Sugar Scrub, I might never overcome this fear. This is probably the mildest sugar scrub you’ll find in India, or maybe the only one. Believe me, I am not exaggerating.

Ingredients-

The Vasu Sugar Scrub is full of some extraordinary ingredients that make it a unique formulation. They say it is enriched with the power of 22 herbs. The key ingredients are-

  • Natural Sugar & Black Sand– that effectively exfoliates dead cells, dirt, grime and sebum leaving the skin squeaky clean and also helps it breathe properly.
  • Kumkumadi Thailam– is a unique ayurvedic blend of herbs that not only provides you with a brighter looking skin but it is also a secret recipe for a radiant glow in the skin. The transparency of the jar allows you to keep a check on how much product you’re left with. It also has a stopper lid inside that helps to make it secure enough for travelling. Although the plastic packaging is easier and safer to handle and to carry with you, I still wish if they can come up with a glass packaging. Overall I like it because it’s travel-friendly, doesn’t spill or leak.

Texture & Fragrance-

The texture of this is very unique, something I experienced for the first time in my life. It is a sand-like texture but you can feel the mildness of it once touched. The consistency is thick and sticky consistency but I spread effortlessly on the skin.  It is a light golden-brown colour with visible sugar granules and some black particles which I assumed must be the black sand.

The fragrance is a very soothing ayurvedic smell. As far as my nose could perceive, the product smelled mostly of saffron, sandal and a little bit of honey and I am quite convinced as the first two are generally present in Kumkumadi oils. Kumkuma- the main ingredient in Kumkumadi oil is saffron. These make the product quite aromatic and it is something that doesn’t bother you.

How to Use Vasu Sugar scrub-

  • Wet your face and neck,
  • Take a dollop of the scrub on to your palm and rub it between your palms to spread the product evenly before applying.
  • Gently massage your face with the product in circular motions focusing the nose, chin or any other problematic areas on your face.
  • Rinse your face thoroughly with cold water.

About 1-2 minutes of massage would be sufficient as you won’t want to over-exfoliate your skin. You must use this product on wet skin as the consistency is quite thick and it won’t spread on the skin evenly only to make it tough to massage properly. You are advised to use this scrub once or twice a week for better results.

I have already told you my experience with sugar scrubs before Vasu Sugar Scrub came into my life. Now, I am going to share my experience after using this product for almost a month. First of all, I am in love with the texture of this. It is exactly how I like my exfoliators to be, loaded with scrubbing particles. If you and I have the same taste in scrubs, you’ll love this product to the core. It comes in a 50g jar but that lasts for long as a little goes a long way.

The sugar granules in it remove dead cells and impurities very effectively without being harsh on the skin. It’s very mild and gentle which is quite unusual for sugar scrubs. This product contains the goodness of Kumkumadi oil that is well-known for its magical properties that adds a youthful glow to the face and is a natural anti-ageing agent. The smell is quite like an aftershave or a gent’s EDT. The smell isn’t something I am really fond of. I find it a bit strong for my liking. I love skincare products that are mildly scented.

Having been suffering from occasional acne (mainly hormonal) and ‘blessed‘ with oily skin, I never stop searching for that perfect wash for my skin. I have been using this face wash for the past few weeks and I think this is something I definitely should continue using this.

When I started using this face wash, I did not have any active acne. So, I cannot tell you if this removes pimple or not but it certainly helped me keep the occasional pimples at bay. It delayed the arrival of the pimples and as I continued using this, it completely stopped them from appearing.

But, acne is not the main skin concern that I have, it’s the oiliness that bothers me more than the occasional pimples and this face wash has effectively taken care of that. It removes any traces of the excessive sebum that my skin produces during the night and gets accumulated mainly around my nose. Also, the tiny beads in the product help gently exfoliate the skin, unclogging the pores. These beads are not at all harsh on the skin thus could be used on a daily basis.

Despite removing all the extra oil from your face, this product does not dry out your skin or make it stretchy at all. Both Tea tree oil and Salicylic acid work wonders for the acne, tea tree oil is also a great anti-oxidant that fights free radicals. Glycolic acid and Salicylic acid are gentle exfoliants that remove any dead cells from the skin without being abrasive on the skin. Liquorice helps brighten the skin giving it a radiant look. Glycerine and D-Panthenol are great humectants that help moisturize the skin without making it oily. Aloe vera helps the skin soothe and adds a bit of moisture too. Overall, the ingredients list is quite impressive which makes the product totally safe to use.

Despite being engineered for oily, acne-prone skin, it’s suitable for all skin types.

Texture & Smell

Mamaearth Coco Face Scrub has a very creamy texture. It’s loaded with micro-exfoliating particles. The consistency is not very thick or not to thin thus it’s quite easy to work with it.  The thickness of the product is just perfect so no need to mix it with water. 

The smell is exactly like exotic coffee and a bit of cocoa. Quite obvious, right? The smell actually helps in calming my senses to some extent. Using it in the mornings can actually help you wake up. I find it exclusively great or me as I am a coffee lover. The scent is quite raw and not at all chemical-like. The best thing about the scent is that it’s not very strong or overpowering. It’s mild and relaxing.

My Experience with MamaEarth Coco Face Scrub

Scrubs are one of my favourite skincare steps. I love this particular product for several reasons.

  • Firstly, this is a very mild exfoliator. The granules are loosely packed and are not very abrasive. That’s why it doesn’t feel harsh on the skin. My skin has been acting up lately. It gets bumpy and sometimes sensitive. This scrub doesn’t irritate my skin.
  • The second thing I love about this product is that it doesn’t make the skin dry or stretchy. I have used many scrubs in the past and most of them had a tendency to make your skin look and feel dehydrated. Gladly, this one doesn’t. Rather it keeps the skin moisturized even after cleansing it thoroughly. The shea butter in it makes sure your skin is well-nourished and hydrated. Although I was familiar with the concept of gummy nutrition, I did not have any experience with any. So, I did not know what exactly to expect and how long it might take for the results to show up. All I knew was I have to take 2 gummies daily for 21 days as the number of gummies in one pack is 42. 

These gummies come in a plastic-free jar and that consists 42 gummies in toffee-like packaging. What I liked the most is that each gum is individually packed so if you are out for a day, you don’t need to carry the whole jar. You can carry as many as you want to.

My Experience with Within Glowing Skin gummies

To be very honest, when I started with these gummies, I wasn’t really sure if this is actually going to be beneficial for me. Yes, I was sceptical. On the initial days, I did not find any significant change in the appearance on my skin. Honestly, it felt a little disappointing. But, I am so glad I did not give up on those. I kept having two gummies a day for about 15 days without missing. That is when the actual difference showed up and it was worth the wait. 

I started to notice a subtle glow on my cheek area and other high points of my face. Now that I am writing this, I realise, the glow started to occur in the starting days itself but it was so subtle that it was not perceivable enough. Anyway, I continued to have two gummies a day and that made the results to show through even better. So far, I have noticed a really nice radiant glow on my skin but I did not see any reduction of the sunspots or the pimple marks that I have on my skin.

Packed with multiple nutrients, these gummies are not only great to have glowing skin, but it’s also beneficial for your overall health.  They have a very mild yet distinct berry flavour and a delectable citrusy taste. These gummies are actually very succulent and yummy.

I am talking about the Dot & Key Hand cream and Sanitizer. Today, I will be reviewing their Lavender variant.

Can Alcohol-free Hand Sanitizers kill Coronavirus?

My experience with Dot & Key Hand cream and Sanitizer- Lavender & Peppermint has been great. I use it as a hand cream as it gives intense hydration to dry hands. Also, the light texture of this cream allows you to penetrate deep into the skin, providing it with nourishment that it requires and at the same time, it does not feel sticky or oily. 

I am not quite sure if I would recommend you this as a hand sanitizer because this is a time we should not take any risks. If you are looking for a product solely for sanitizing your hands, you should go for something that has 60% or 70% alcohol in it because that will be most effective. However, the Dot & Key Hand cream and Sanitizer would be a good option for sanitizing your hands if you are at home and want to do your makeup or skincare with sanitized hands.

Although I love the formula so much and considering the fact that you require a very little amount of product for both your hands, I still feel it is quite expensive for a 50ml tube.
