7 Changes You Need to Make to Reorganize Your Wardrobe for Spring/Summer| cherryontopblog.com

Hello all, hope you are doing well. As winter has bid us goodbye long ago and spring is almost over, so it is the time to usher summer- the brightest of all seasons. Last week, as a part of my Spring Cleaning, I was de-cluttering my wardrobe to organize my spring/summer clothes and found out that I have some ideas to share with you guys. Almost all of us are get puzzled when it comes to clean and organize your wardrobe. What to keep and what to throw out is the biggest question that keeps coming back to our minds. Today, I thought why not let you guys know what I am keeping in my spring/summer closet and what I am weeding out. I hope your wardrobe worries get reduced after reading this post. Let’s start-

7 Things You Should Keep in Your Spring/Summer Wardrobe

1. Say hello to Crop Tops

It is the time to bid adieu to your favourite loose sweaters and welcome the summery crop tops. I was not a crop top person even a few of months ago. I was not sure if I can ever pull off a crop top confidently. Despite the fact, I had ordered a crop top from Forever 21 last October. Recently, I found that out lying at the corner of my wardrobe, neglected. I thought of giving it a try and planned on to pair it with my palazzo pants. Guess what! I wear this combo almost all the time. For those who feel like I felt, if you guys are not comfortable with the little peek-a-boo, do try pairing your crop tops with high-waste pants or skirts.

2. Switch over to Flared Bottoms

I don’t like wearing denim during spring and summer. I love to switch over to the other options such as skirts, chinos or palazzos. Recently, I have discovered my love for palazzos. I have always been a little sceptical about wearing palazzos considering my short height but then the ‘try everything’ theory worked and I got a pair for myself. Now, I don’t even think of getting back to my jeans. Skirts and palazzos are the comfiest of all bottoms. You must try them for summers.

3. Make some space for Maxi Dresses

Believe it or not, Maxi Dresses could be your best friend for this Spring/Summer. I have grown a love for maxi dresses when I bought my first from Limeroad. I am planning on buying some more so that I can have one maxi dress for every occasion.

4. Bring back those Jumpsuits/Playsuits/Dungarees

When it comes to fashion with comfort, I can only think about jumpsuits. You can add as many of them as you want and you won’t get bored of them. I will suggest adding pastel shades to make your wardrobe look summery and also it will make you feel refreshed.

5. Layer up you outfits with Summer Jackets

I love layering my outfits. It gives every outfit an edge and something to break the mundaneness. I don’t do it during summers (you know how extreme Indian summer is), but in Spring, I love to do it. There are a few variety of items that you can use for layerings, such as summer jackets, shrugs, kimonos or even an over-sized shirt can play the role.

6. Replace your boots with Strappy Flats

Let’s admit, Winter is long gone. Those booties on your shoe rack are of no use now, unless you are a person who does not mind wearing boots in summers. It’s now time to bring back those forgotten heroes to work. In spring/summers, you need something that keeps your feet fresh and allows air to pass through your shoes. Sandals are the best for this season. I personally love wearing strappy sandals or ballerinas throughout the year.

7. Add bright Jewellery

If you love accessorizing yourself as much as I do then you cannot forget to add your favourite summer baubles to your wardrobe. I love wearing my dainty pieces all year round but I am really looking forward to getting some new jewellery in bright shades. Maybe I will try out some neons too!

V-day! Let’s not make it a D-day! I know it’s the time to celebrate love, but it would be incomplete if not for good fashionable clothes and accessories! Now, as the special day of the year is just around the corner many of you must have started preparing for it in advance. For all those who are a bit confused about their looks, let’s play your guardian angel. We understand that you want to look hot so that your lover doesn’t look here and there. Ahem! That’s quite a task, ladies. First, believe in yourself, and be willing to experiment. Don’t be that same plain Jane.

So, how can you look hot on Valentine’s Day? Here are a few dresses you can try.

Lace dress in bright shade

You can feel the love in the air, right! And, what’s the color of love? Did you just say red! Then go for it! Ladies, red is the perfect shade to wear on V-day. Pick a lace dress in red, and be that style diva your beau always wanted to see in you. Pair it up with nice heels in black and go for designer earrings to accentuate the oomph factor.

Sweater dress to beat the chill

The winters are not yet over, and if you are stepping out for a luncheon then a sweater dress is just perfect. We saw this dress from the label Next on Jabong.com. Isn’t it flirty as well as classy! Complete the look with blue-shade aviators or a pair of square sunglasses, and wear white sneakers. The style is quite upbeat and will make you look young.

White dress for a hot look!

If you are going to spend your entire day with your man then sport a flowy white maxi in lace or chiffon. First, it is comfortable. Second it gives you an elegant look. You can put bright makeup to complement it. Team it up with a shrug or a denim jacket for a windy evening, and wear boots to add a bit of edge to your look. You can wear fashion jewellery in beads and layers too.

LBD to shimmer

One can seldom go wrong with an LBD. If your dinner date is and you are clubbing, then a skimpiest of short black dress can work wonders. I would say, choose a shimmery black party dress and sparkle throughout the evening. Your beau will find it hard to take his hands off you. Pair the look with stone-studded earrings, and a pair of high heels.

Ooze oomph in racy side-slit dress

Why not flaunt your legs and make others envy. It’s Valentine’s Day and you can be risqué. You can work your mojo in a body-hugging attire with a side slit, and be a head-turner. Wear long danglers, a rose-gold designer watch, and a pair of strappy sandals. Seeing you in this attire your guy can’t help, but thank his lucky stars.

So guys, which look would you choose for V’Day?

Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog. Today’s post is not something I usually do on my blog. Today’s post is more of a suggestion-seeking post where you guys will be my helping hands. Interested? Let me explain a bit more.
It started when my best friend decided to get married to her dream man. Since then we have been planning on our outfits, jewellery, shoes, food, venue, and what not! Finally, her wedding date has been fixed and guess what she is getting married soon. On the one hand, I am really excited to see her unite with her love and on the other hand, I am really nervous because I am left with 90% of the shopping.

While I was on a hunt for the best ethnic wear, some of my friends suggested me to go for Biba for Anarkali suits. As they have an online store, I did not have any reasons to not decide it for the ultimate destination. While going through their Anarkali section, I came across a few pieces that I thought I can wear to different ceremonies like Sangeet, Haldi, Wedding and the reception. But, I am so confused a shopper when it comes to online shopping. I feel like everything is appealing and perfect for me. So, I want you guys to help me choose the perfect pieces for my friend’s wedding. You will help me, right? So, here are the options-

For Sangeet and Mehendi Ceremony

What to Wear to My Best Friend’s Wedding? || Ft. BIBA| cherryontopblog.com
I am confused between these two pieces for the Mehendi and Sangeet ceremony. Both of them are vibrant in colour but the first one is much more flared which I like and the second one is lighter as it seems in the photo. Which one should I pick?

For Haldi Ceremony

What to Wear to My Best Friend’s Wedding? || Ft. BIBA| cherryontopblog.com

What to Wear to My Best Friend’s Wedding? || Ft. BIBA| cherryontopblog.com
As the Haldi ceremony is a daytime programme, I decided to go for pastel colours and ligh-weight material. Both the suits I chose are made of cotton so it will let my skin breathe in between the numerous chores. The one is white has short sleeves and the yellow one is in full-sleeves. I am only scared to getting turmeric stains. Which one should I opt for?

For the Wedding & Reception

The reason why I decided to wear suits and not lehengas is because it’s my best friend’s wedding and knowing each other for over 15 years makes me more like her sister than a friend. You might know how tedious a job is to get your sister married, right? There are guests to attend, take care of the bride, running after decorators, supervise the makeup artists, click selfies, run other errands and what not! So, to manage everything without making yourself a mess you need to wear something which is really comfortable and at the same time exceptionally gorgeous! So, I have these two suits in my mind. I think I should wear the blue one for the wedding and the black for the reception. I am not totally sure if I will stick to my decision or go for something else. You guys tell me if you liked these two or not.

That was it, guys. I am looking forward to hearing your valuable comments on this post.

Which one you liked the most?

Embracing Winter| OOTD| Indian Fashion Blog| Sammydress.com| Cherry On Top Blog

Hello people, hope you are doing well! Finally it has started getting chilly outside and I feel it’s the time to transition into Winter or late Fall. The weather is a bit confusing- the days are hot and it gets colder after dark. It might not be the same throughout India, especially if you are living in a Metro city but in my area it is already winter. You have to keep something warm to get yourself wrapped into if you are travelling. It becomes very irritating for me to dress up like half-summer and half-winter!
Keeping the weather in mind, I teamed up a summer dress with a warm, cozy shrug to make the outfit more wearable for late fall or early winter. The royal blue dress is from Sammydress.com which I showed you in my recent haul. The material of the dress is very soft and comfy. I love how it emphasizes my body shape. Despite being a soft material it does not cling to my body which is a great thing! It has a pull string on the waist area. I feel it has the perfect length for my liking, not much above the knees nor below it. I feel this length makes me look taller. I am in love with this dress. I can totally see myself pairing this dress up with some jacket during the winter.

I chose a pair of black ballerinas to give the whole outfit a very casual look. The gold detailing on the flats are my favourite. I love how it makes the mundane black ballerinas something special. My sling bag has the same thing. It is black with beautiful gold detailing.

Indian marriages are famous for having a number of rituals. The beauty of an Indian wedding lies in the fact that there are numerous traditions associated with the special celebrations. Lots of laughter, music, and dance are just some of the elements that hold aloft the beauty of an Indian wedding.
Among the numerous traditions associated with these weddings, the mehndi ceremony is probably the most prominent. This is when the brides, and in some cases the grooms, apply mehndi on their hands and feet. While the groom needs to stay happy with a token design, the brides are given an elaborate treatment.
The significance of mehndi

According to popular belief, mehndi is a representation of the bond of matrimony existent between couples and is thus regarded as a sign of good luck. It signifies the love and affection prevalent between them and their immediate families. Some of the popular beliefs associated with a mehndi tradition are as follows:

  • The darkness of the color of the mehndi on the bride’s hands is a representation of the deep love existing between the would-be-couple.
  • The color of the mehndi also reflects the love and understanding the bride shares with her mother-in-law.
  • Longer the mehndi color stays on, more auspicious it proves to be for the newlyweds.
  • Mehndi is also looked upon as a symbolic representation of fertility.

How to make mehndi at home?
Henna, the main constituent for a mehndi paste, is usually sold in the form of a dry powder. It is usually prepared by drying, milling, and sifting the leaves of the henna plant. This powder needs to be blended with strong tea, lemon juice, or other liquids that have an acidic content so that the silky smooth consistency is obtained.
Bridal Mehndi Tutorial - A Comprehensive Guide for Indian Bride| Cherry On Top Blog
Henna paste should ideally be allowed to stand for twenty-four hours so that the dye is released. Essential oils that contain a high level of monoterpene alcohol such as eucalyptus, cajeput, lavender, and tea tree can be added to the henna paste so as to produce a dark color. This paste can now be applied to the palms and feet of the bride for creating intricate designs using cones.

In case you don’t wish to prepare cones at home, ready-made cones are readily available in the market.
Modernization of the mehndi designs
The traditional mehndi patterns have become intensely intricate and decorative over time. Today, there are a large number of mehndi patterns to choose from such as Arabic, Rajasthan and black mehndi designs. Besides, you have the choice of jazzing up a simple design using crystals, beads etc.

Dulha Dulhan and Shehnai designs are particularly popular amongst brides. But if you are a modern bride, you might just want to try out some awesome arm tattoos for your big day!

Applying a mehndi and getting a design right may sound very easy but is far from being so! You need a lot of effort and practice before you can get it right. It is thus advisable that you try out the design on rough to see if you have mastered it perfectly before you go ahead and apply it for the big occasion.
In case you find it too tedious to do the designs yourself, you can hire professional artists, or just follow one among the hundreds of tutorials available online, right at your fingertips.

Mehndi designs on feet
Doing a bridal mehndi pattern for the feet is not much different from any other conventional form of mehndi design. While we are used to seeing the hands and arms being covered by such designs it is not unusual to have mehndi art on one’s legs and feet. This design can be in coordination of what you have on your hands or have a totally different look and feel to it. Either way, dainty feet and delicate ankles brandishing traditional mehndi designs with a pair of toe rings and an anklet makes for a complete bridal look.
Over the course of the wedding celebrations, there will be numerous occasions when the bride will be called upon for exposing her feet and ankles. Having a great bridal mehndi pattern gracing her feet will help in bringing the whole look together and complement her ensemble of jewelry and makeup.
Before you get started

Here are some helpful tips to ensure that you are fully prepared before applying the bridal mehndi design on your hands. Trust me, following these tips will make life a whole lot easier for you.

  • Make sure you finalize the design way earlier, so as to avoid any last-minute confusion. If you are unsure of which design you want to adorn your hands with, you can just refer to designs available online in the form of images and videos.

  • You should ideally get the bridal mehndi done a couple of days before the wedding day since the henna will require around 48 uneventful hours to produce the darkest possible stain.
  • It is not a good idea to exfoliate before the mehndi is applied. More the number of skin layers, better will be the absorption of the henna.
  • All your manicure, pedicure, and waxing should be done before the mehndi is applied, as they impact the longevity and stain of the design. If your preference is for shaving over waxing, do so lightly in order to avoid razor burns or open wounds. Also, the harsh chemicals used in these manicures and pedicures can prevent the stain from developing so you won’t get the guarantee of a suitably bright bridal mehndi pattern.
  • Avoid the use of any lotions before applying the mehndi and for another couple of days after you have applied it so that it does not interfere with the stain.

After Application Care – How to Make Sure Your Mehndi Stays for Long

Once the mehndidries off, dab it with a solution of lemon juice and sugar which helps in increasing the intensity of the mehndi color. The dried henna will slowly fall off from the hand and leave behind an orange hue that slowly turns into reddish brown. The remainder of the dried paste can be scraped off from the hand using the blunt edge of a knife.
Chlorinated water and soap solutions should be avoided at all costs as they hinder the darkening of the mehndi color. After applying the mehndi, you can steam or warm your hands to give a darker color to the design. It is best to make the henna paste at home for creating mehndi designs and tattoos on your hands and feet. This way, you can keep yourself from harm of the harsh chemicals that are predominant in the readymade cones you get in the market.

Fashion Tip of the Day: You don’t have to be headed to class to rock a backpack.

In fact, style superstars and celebrities are opting for functional and fashionable backpacks instead of either overly bulky or too-small handbags. For every day outings, a chic backpack is the perfect errand partner to keep your belongings safe. Fuss-free and ready for anything the day holds, backpacks are quickly becoming one of the most coveted cool-girl accessories.

The key to finding the right backpack to fit your style is to ask yourself what vibe you’re aiming for. Are you looking for a posh appearance or a laid-back look? Different days call for different designs, so I went ahead and picked out my top three lusts for the season.

3 Chic Backpacks for Every Day| Cherry On Top Blog

1. Bohemian
Nothing says “day off” like a slouchy, patchwork sack. Ripe with the spirit of adventure, donning bright hues and eye-catching design, a boho bag will accompany you on your next day off from work with spirited style. The bohemian look is best suited for sun-soaked days, so leave this bag behind if you’re headed to a meeting.

2. Leather

Polished and perfect to wear from the mall to meeting up with friends, a structured leather backpack is just basic enough to match almost any outfit. Whether pleather or the real thing, “little leather backpacks” are sophisticated and chic. When your bag is small in size, it’s unassuming and seamlessly becomes one with your outfit.

3. Shaped
The freedom that comes with a hands-free bag makes room for lots of fun. Since you don’t have to worry about toting these bags on your shoulder – or worse, tucked underneath your arm – why not take advantage and find a fun shape for ultra personalization? This backpack looks like a diamond, which I love!
I found the above three bags while perusing Lyst’s site. And if you thought just one backpack was enough, think again: Their collection is described to have “backpacks to suit all moods and occasions,” so it’s time to start envisioning your hands-free, fashionable future, because there’s never a bad time to wear a backpack.

Bollywood’s Sri Lankan beauty hardly fails to make a style statement and sets hearts aflutter every time she steps out. Be it award shows, promotional events, casual outings, weddings or vacations, there’s something to learn from her every time and upgrade our look. Not to mention, add new and versatile pieces to our wardrobe also. She manages to turn on heads each time and has hardly let stylists down. The gorgeous actress has come a long way from what her style used to be previously. Start jotting down notes as you find out about the important lessons each one of us can learn from:

1) Neon can look subtle

So you love clothes in neon shades but you also don’t wear them since they intimidate you. You don’t have to inject a big dose of neon in your outfit. Go for a pop of neon in a subtle manner just like Jacqueline does. She has teamed up her monochromatic outfit beautifully with a neon pink jacket. Her clean makeup further elevates her look.

2) Layer jewellery sensibly

There are some jewellery rules which work like a charm and make statement pieces work beautifully. If you want to layer different jewellery pieces, do it on one area. If you are stacking bracelets on your hands, keep the jewellery pieces for your neck and ear simple and sleek. Otherwise you run the risk of looking like a decked Christmas tree. Similarly if you are going for a statement neckpiece, don’t make your look overwhelming by going for statement earrings.

3) Sporty Look Isn’t Just For Playground

Because whoever said sporty and glamorous look can’t come together clearly had no idea about what style means. One can always count on Jacqueline to make even simple sporty dresses look glam. So the next time you need inspiration for styling your sporty dress or ways on how to wear baseball cap with a dress, you know who to turn to. Now you know how to style them, add more pieces to your wardrobe by shopping from India’s mega online Fashion store at non-bank breaking prices with the help of Jabong coupons available on CashKaro.com.

4) Kurta and pants doesn’t has to be boring

Jacqueline looks every bit ethereal here! The way in which she has rocked this outfit is beyond words. She isn’t decked in jewellery and makes for a real cool inspiration for women who despise kurta and pants thinking they might just look the same like everyone else. You can shop for a lot of trendy kurta and pants online at prices which won’t hurt your pocket by using Fashion And You coupons via CashKaro.com.

5) Mix and match with stripes

Stripes have made a big comeback this season and can be seen just all over. One of the best ways to hide and highlight different body parts is by creating illusions through different kinds of stripes. Go for vertical stripes for the areas where you want to create a slimming effect. Diagonal ones work great too. Opt for horizontal stripes for the parts wherein you want to create extra weight. She has completed her look here with a statement neck piece which adds color to her otherwise monochrome outfit. In her second look, she has opted for a very casual look by pairing her striped tee with distressed jeans.

Hello all, welcome to the fourth day of the Fall Party. Today, I decided to write about an outfit that I found has become my favourite this season. Let me show you-

Indian Fall/Autumn is not at all cold, in fact it is really hot here in India right now. To keep it all casual and breezy, I chose to wear a basic white tee with a pair of red printed trousers. The trousers are very comfy and at the same time, stylish.

I accessorized the whole outfit with a chunky golden neck piece, bought from Flipkart.

My flats are from Osca Donna, a comparatively new brand that provides hand made, designer shoes. These are the comfiest shoes I have ever worn in my life. The leather is not those hard ones that end up causing blisters to your feet. I found this brand on Flipkart.

My black sling back is my new BFF for quite sometime now. I prefer slings and satchels to handbags.

Ethnic and Off-beat| OOTD| Fashion| Cherry On Top Blog

Hello all, how are you doing? I can’t believe September is about to bid goodbye and October is not too far away. I can’t suppress my excitement as Durga Puja starts on October 19th!! Gosh, one more year passed! Anyways, today’s post is going to be an OOTD post. A few weeks ago, we spontaneously planned for a day-out with our friends. This was an impromptu OOTD so excuse me for the quality of photos. I brought the usual point and shoot camera with me. The background and lighting aren’t as good as they should have been as the trip was not meant for photography. Anyhoo, I succeeded in choosing some good quality pictures for this post as I eagerly wanted to share the outfit with you guys.

So, without further ado, let’s jump into the post.

You guys might know that I am not an ‘ethnics’ person. I feel extremely comfortable in my jeans or chinos and oversized blouses. I rarely choose to wear ethnic outfits only if there is any traditional function or wedding. This is the reason I merely have 4-5 traditional outfits. If I ever choose to wear an ethnic attire, I make sure that it is not heavy, bland and most importantly conventional.

The Kurti that I am wearing is my favourite at this moment because it is very  lightweight, it has 3/4 sleeves and it has a high-low cut which is just what I need in my ethnics- cool, classy, casual! The material is Poly Crepe which is not breathable yet comfortable.

I wore these white and gold sandals which I think complemented the ‘ethnic-ness‘ of the outfit.

I didn’t accessorized much as it was very hot and humid and of course I had no plans of clicking for the blog. I wore a pair of beautiful golden earrings from Gotta Go Gorgeous.

My sling bag is from Caprese. I love the faux leather material. The black and gold combo gives it a oomph. I love slings bags so much and this one is my current favourite!
