Hi, everyone! As I promised you in my last post, I am back again with another Spring/Summer collection by another talented designer from the city, Jyoti Sachdev Iyer. Now, you must be familiar with the name if you are a fashion lover and love to delve into latest trends and styles. Jyoti Sachdev Iyer is widely known for her sense of simplicity that she impeccably delineates in her designs. I was invited by her team to visit her studio at Bullygunge, Kolkata to get a preview of her Spring/Summer 2016 Collection.
Her studio is something that every designer dreams of. A tastefully decorated, mysteriously lit up place with the display of her designs. As soon as we entered her studio we were lead to the section where her latest collection was displayed. We were told about each and every piece, the materials used, the works and how they can be paired to make a perfect summer outfit.
Jyoti Sachdev Iyer’s Spring/Summer collection is called EMERGENCE and it is all about soft colours, breathable materials, light prints and embroideries. The pieces we saw were mostly shades of whites, peaches, soft pinks etc. I think those are perfect for summer in Bengal. These clothes are a perfect relief from the hot and humid weather. I personally liked her designs as they spoke simplicity as well as style. You must check her collection out. I am sure you would like them a lot. Here are a few shots that I took at her studio-
Jyoti Sachdev Iyer’s collection is rich in subtle designs and simple work. She even customises dresses for her clients. Drapes, lehengas, tops, Indo-western she has almost everything in her store. Here’s is a few images of her new collection-
*The first to photos are borrowed from Kinkinee. I forgeot to bring my camera that day and she was so sweet to let me borrow some of photos she took with her cam. Thanks, Kinkinee!

If you are a Lakme Fashion Week fan and religiously watch it happen every year whether from the ramp or from your computer, you must be familiar with this name- Garo. Garo is a brainchild of designers Priyangsu Maji and Sweta Tantia from Kolkata who showcased their exclusive and unique femmes-de-Tahiti collection at the Lakme Fashion Week, 2016 for the first time. The first time organizing their own show and turning it into a big hit, that is their success story. If you do not remember their show, then allow me to remind you by showing you the picture where this designer-duo posed with their show-stopper for the show Divya Khosla Kumar. She looked ravishing in the Garo dress-
Recently, I got a chance to visit their studio, see their Spring/Summer collection, and have a one-on-one conversation with them. I went to their store on 15th of this month. I have shared a picture with them on my Instagram if you remember. So, I went there with a fellow blogger and friend, Kinkinee from Gupshup Avenue. Reaching there, we were welcomed warmly by the designers themselves. After talking for a while, we went straight to the collection. Their collection is mostly about ethnic wear. They specialize in asymmetrical hemline, multiple layers, drapes, different prints and patterns etc. Let me show you their Spring/Summer Collection for the year 2016. I’ll share some of the conversations we had at the end of this post.
Garo Spring/Summer Collection, 2016
Now, coming back to our conversation with Priyangsu and Sweta, it was a really friendly chat. So we asked them a few questions like how do they get inspired, what is the story behind Garo, when they are coming with a proper store, what is their next project and so on. I am writing down what they answered. They showed us a book by the famous artist Paul Gauguin and told us that their Femmes-de-Tahiti collection that was showcased at the LFW 2016 was inspired by Paul Gauguin’s paintings of a Tahitian village and its dwellers. I found this really interesting. On asking about the story behind the name, Garo, they told us that this is because Garo is an Assamese tribe and their designs are also inspired by tribal arts. People living in or around Kolkata would love to know that they are coming up with a well-stocked store in Kolkata. I am really looking forward to their new store. Believe me, their collection is irresistible.
I hope you liked this post. Don’t forget to share your thoughts with me in the comments. Please keep an eye on this blog tomorrow because I will share another Spring/Summer Collection by another talented designer tomorrow. Till then be safe & keep smiling!
Summer is here and we all are polishing up our summer fashion to beat the heat and look fashionable at the same time. I am no exception. When it comes to choosing clothes for summer, I become very picky. Not all colours, cuts, and fits fascinate me. I like light-weight, breathable materials, soft, pastel colours and of course unique designs. Jabong has stocked up some extremely exciting items in their summer-store that cannot get unnoticed. I chose a printed blue dress from Lara Karen’s Spring Summer 2016 collection available exclusively on Jabong.
Today, I thought of sharing an outfit idea with you that you can wear on a regular basis- for brunches, shopping dates, movies, college and even for work. I tried to keep it simple and fashionable at the same time. Let’s jump into the pictures-
The dress by Lara Karen is made out of a very light-weight cotton fabric (however, I don’t think it’s pure cotton) which is really comfortable. It has the perfect length, just like how I like a daily-wear dress to be. The hemline is perfect for me, it makes the dress breezy and flowy. It has a mandarin collar which might be a little uncomfortable for summers but I like it because it gives a really formal, chic look. This dress has front buttons which I really like as I feel it is easier for me. Also, it has a small chain on the side. There is a cinch at the waistline to enhance the body shape which is great. This dress has short sleeves that go well with the entire look.
The bag I have paired up with this outfit is by a brand called Kiara and it is available on Limeroad. This bag is huge so you can carry your world with you. It is a perfect structured satchel which is great for work or college. The pastel baby pink colour makes it really chic and does not limit the usage. You can even carry it to the movies. Although you can use it formally but it does not look completely formal. I hope I made some sense. This bag has two adjustable straps making it easier for you to carry. The only thing bothers me about this bag is its weight. This bag is a bit on the heavier side.
The white sandals I wore are from Styletag. I got these last winter when they were on sale. These sandals are the comfiest thing ever! They fit perfectly, did not hurt and I did not get any blister which is usual for me whenever I wear a new pair of shoes. I thought white shoes would complement the outfit well and make it more summery as well.
I did not accessorize the outfit much only because I do not like over accessorizing my outfits in summer. I wore a watch which I bought from a thrift store. Not a branded one but it definitely goes well with my outfit. What do you think? The pair of round sunglasses I wore is from Lenskart.

Here are a few more picks from Lara Karen’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection that I really liked. You can find them on Jabong.

Kolkata: Around the world, a new definition of luxury is emerging. All things – exclusive, irreplaceable & unique- fall under the ambit of this rising trend. Keeping this in mind, Designer Surbhi Pansari is pleased to announce the launch of her Spring Summer ’16 collection. Gladrags Supermodel Ravi Awana showcased the collection.

The collection comprises of classy Jawahar Jackets, stylish Bandhgalas, bright coloured Kurtas, elegant Shackets, tailored trousers and much more. Hello all, hope you are enjoying the summer days. I know it’s scorching hot and humid here in India but I am sure the other part of the world is finding it pleasant. Today, I thought of sharing with you a self-curated guide for shopping summer clothes and accessories. So, in this post, I am going to share what I feel is necessary to fix your summer fashion. Also, I am sharing some tips to save the most while shopping so that it would be great for all frugal Fashionistas like us!
When it comes to summer shopping, I can’t think anything except two things- material and length. You should always choose something that is made of breathable fabric. Cotton, jute, linen, chambray, hemp etc. are breathable and they do not irritate the skin. When it comes to the length of the clothes, I don’t like anything that goes beyond my knees. Although I love maxi dresses and skirts for summers and I want to avoid getting tanned/sunburned legs, I would most definitely prefer clothes that fall on my knees or above. Shorts and Skirts are the best for me for this season.
Here are a few things that you should definitely stuff your wardrobe with-
White Shirts
No matter what the season is, you must always own a few white shirts. They not only look cool and classy but also help in pairing up with almost all skirts, pants, and even dresses. A white shirt is never boring as it might seem. You can even use them as shrugs to throw over a sleeveless dress just to make sure your arms are not burnt.
Linen Shorts
Linen is my favourite fabric for summers. I love shopping for linen clothes not only for me but also for Amit, my boyfriend. Linen shorts are the comfiest thing ever. They are 100% breathable, soft and everything why you need them for this summer. You can pair them up with shirts, tops and even with kurtas.
Off-Shoulder Blouses
Not all the time we can experiment with fashion. Spring and summer are the seasons that allow us to break the monotony of fashion and try new things. Off-shoulder tops and dresses are so on trend right now. You can find them in almost all the online stores. Get great discounts on your shopping cart.
Cotton Culottes
As I said earlier, length matters for me plus, summer is the time for experiments and transformations. Ditch your full-length trousers and jeans this summer and accept comfortable and stylish culottes. Culottes can be incorporated in formal styles as well as casuals. Go for cotton culottes as it is the most breathable natural fabric. It will allow your skin to breathe and stay comparatively cooler.
Floral Kimonos
I know it’s too hot outside but summer outfits also need layering. A floral kimono can obviously make a mundane outfit cheerful, bright and summery. Pair a kimono with almost everything like shorts, graphic t-shirts, skirts, dress etc.
Flats and Platform Sandals
It’s hot everywhere and our feet need to breathe as does our skin. Platforms and flats with straps will allow your feet to breathe and stay happy. These shoes can be paired with almost any casual western attire.
Tips to Save the Most While Shopping-
Now the best part which is for the frugal Fashionistas- we all love saving money while buying things. Even if it’s a few bucks, it is always a profit. We can buy us some cookies with the savings, amirite? So, I am here with a few tried and tested tips to save as much as possible while shopping.
Go for thrift stores or flea markets instead of malls for seasonal shopping. This doesn’t apply to those who are brand-conscious and/or looking for a particular item.
Bargain when possible.
Make a list before going out for shopping.
Don’t give in to temptations.
Shop online.
Use Online Coupon Sites to shop from e-stores. Voucher Codes is such a website for online discount coupons having an array of different merchants like Limeroad, Craftsvilla, Flipkart, Abof and Clovia. Voucher Codes is a Singapore-based web portal that runs and managed in various countries. They have coupons on different categories like Fashion, Travel, Mobile phones, Home and Garden etc. Voucher Codes helps you to find out the best-discounted products from your favourite store.
So, these are my tips to shop smarter and the guide to summer shopping. I hope you like this article and found it helpful. I’ll be back again with a new post very soon. Till then, be safe & keep smiling!

There is a frisson of excitement in the air as the new season settles in. As we bid farewell to the trends of the previous season, a fresh batch of trends emerge.
From the revival of the ’90s to the more-is-more ruffles, this season’s key trends already seem bigger, better and braver. Here’s our comprehensive edit of the newest season: Spring/Summer 2016.
1. Slip Into It
Spring’s most sensual proposal? The slip dress. Slinkier than ever, these nightie-inspired dresses pay homage to the supermodels of the ’90s (Think Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista). With subtle details like scalloped lace at Celine, in satin and chiffon at Saint Laurent and layered over fine knits at Pucci, Spring/Summer is looking sexier than ever.
2. True Romance Real romantics, rejoice! After a wave of androgynous designs and silhouettes that blurred the boundaries of gender, SS16 saw designers embrace femininity to honour woman’s romantic albeit, strong nature. Alexander McQueen chose to be inspired by the Victorian era, Alexander McQueen moved away from his grungy aesthetics and presented a collection that was feminine, subtle and seductive and Erdem showed off ethereal looking dresses that were on the darker side of romanticism.
3. Ruffles Fest
Ruffles, frills, flounces and ruches continue to be a key trend designers dabbled with. In London, Mary Katrantzou showed off larger-than-life ruffles in structured silhouettes like peplum and tiers. In Milan, Roberto Cavalli presented a collection of billowy taffeta gowns with frill details. Balmain, Michael Kors and Miu Miu also added an exciting edge to this feminine detailing.
4. Shine on, You Crazy Diamond!
High shine fabrics have always been a runway favourite, but this season’s take on this standout trend is more experimental than ever. While Louis Vuitton went futuristic with foil minidresses, Marc Jacobs and Sonia Rykiel went for all-over sequinned maxi dresses that prove that this key trend is for every girl.
5. Cold Shoulders
Designers prove that the bare shoulders are the only way to show some skin and leave plenty to the imagination. Proenza Schouler, The Row, Boss and Prabal Gurung all featured structured silhouettes with off-shoulder and asymmetric necklines.
6. Mega Colours
The challenge of combining clashing colours was left to Christopher Kane, Gucci, Balmain and Dries Van Noten. And they overcame it with flying colours (quite literally). They presented Pantone hits of the season in vivid graphic and eye-catching motifs.
7. The ’90s Revival
From Saint Laurent to Vetements, the runway saw inspiration being drawn from the ’90s decade. We saw a full-fledged revival of the oversized jackets, slip dresses and the infamous velour fabric. Alexander Wang also took a turn for the nostalgic with sweatpants and tracksuits for some extra street cred.
8. Floral Redux
While florals for spring may not be ground breaking, this season saw a tougher, moody version of the playful, feminine print. In Paris, Ellie Saab featured laser-cut florals, Phillip Lahm showed off his love for garden groves with minimalist floral prints and Oscar de la Renta put a Latin twist on his flowery ensembles.
9. Fine Lines
Many designers showed off a bevvy of stripes – from horizontal to vertical, thick to thin, many-hued to monochromatic. Dior, Missoni, Prada and Dolce & Gabbana played with choppy, curled and scattered on billowy to structured silhouettes.
10. Shoulder-Dusters
A new, bold set of accessories have emerged this season. Shoulder-grazing earrings were featured by Celine, Oscar de la Renta and J W Anderson as mismatched pairs. Simply buy two different pairs of earrings to wear together or wear old favourites together from your jewellery box.
