Hi, guys! Today, I am back with another post. Remember, I was really excited to show you the outfits I shot with? Well, you have seen one of the outfits in my previous summer fashion post. For today’s outfit, I chose to flaunt my boho chic side. The outfit I chose is apt for summers. The fabric is breathable, it’s lightweight and it’s indigo!

Embroidery is on trend right now. From sarees to jeans, embroidery works are everywhere. The two trends that are ruling the market currently are, a. Embroidery and b. Patches/Pins. I love both of them! For this post, I have collaborated with Loom Tree. They asked me to go through their collection and choose one for myself. As soon as I landed at their website, I instantly fall for their collection. You’ll know what I mean once you visit their website.

About Loom Tree

Loom Tree is an Indian clothing brand that makes boho/fusion ethnic wear that is loved by people who want to value artisanal fashion through their lifestyle. The materials that Loom Tree uses to make their clothes are of high quality. They use organic cotton, handloom wool, Ashima silk (Peace silk) and upcycled fabrics. They specialise in contemporary, bohemian-luxe womenswear.

“Loom Tree’s main objective is to offer exclusive fashion whilst improving the lives and communities of the artisans, craftsmen, weavers and farmers in developing countries who hold the traditional skills needed to make beautiful, authentic and timeless things.”

“Grounded in traditional Indian textiles, we celebrate in global artisan craft. We believe the contemporary fashion industry has lost its connection to the producers at the bottom of the supply chain so unlike other fashion brands, we don’t hide our suppliers away. We acknowledge them so that each and every product we sell has an instant story to share with the world.”

So, as we are done knowing Loom Tree, we should move forward to the outfit.

Tales of Bohemia ft. Loom Tree | Cherry On Top

Firstly, let me tell you about the piece I got from Loom Tree. I got this very pretty indigo top/shrug/jacket that has beautiful embroidered patchworks on the cuffs, shoulders and chest. The cuffs of the sleeve have also got some boho style metallic coin detailing which I love! This top (as mentioned in the product description) is made of 100% cotton. I love this top because of two reasons. First, the coin detailing and second, the loose-fit and breeziness.

Keeping the boho element in mind, I thought of coming up with a fusion look. So, I wore this top over my plain white tee as a shrug and paired it up with faded blue jeans and ethnic, golden sandals.I didn’t accessorise much as the top itself is a statement piece. I just styled it with a pair of these blue round sunnies from Lenskart. Overall, the outfit reflected a casual, retro, boho style. I am really happy with the outcome.

Hi, guys! I know it’s been a long time since I posted an OOTD. As spring is here and it is slowly transitioning into summer, I thought of doing an outfit post that would be appropriate for this time of the year. In this post, I have tried to show you an outfit that is very casual, wearable and apt for both day and night time. I know the blazer is looking a tad bit weird because Indian spring is not even close to pleasant nowadays, but I wanted to incorporate it just to make it perfect for you if you have to attend a special event. You may or may not include this, but in this post, this blazer is the star element.

Like all my outfits, this one is very wearable. This is for those who love to dress up effortlessly and want to feel comfortable throughout the day. Basically, I wanted to show you what I would choose to wear for a special event. The pieces I have shown can easily be found in your wardrobe.

Hey, guys! Hope you are doing well. Summer is almost here and right now most of us are busy organizing our summer closets. I thought it would be the best time to give you some tips on how to create a wardrobe that focuses on summer fashion with the minimum number of clothes. The idea is to create a compact wardrobe that would have everything you would need to style yourself during summers. So, let’s start.

Before starting, I want to write down a few pointers that will help you understand this post better.

  • I have chosen 7 pieces for your Summer wardrobe that will get you sorted for this season.
  • All these clothes are classics, so they will never go out of fashion.
  • These 7 pieces can be used in multiple ways.
  • They will not end up at a corner of your wardrobe, unused like many of your purchases.
  • These are suitable for both day and night time.
  • These would be perfect for both your work and your vacations.

Now that everything has been said, let’s jump straight into my picks.

The Tops

1. The Basic Shirt | Ultimate Summer Fashion Fix

The Ultimate Summer Fashion Fix | Cherry On Top

One thing you cannot skip buying is a good quality shirt that fits you perfectly. Keeping the season in mind, I have chosen a light colour and linen fabric. You can style it up with cotton trousers or jeans and a pair of sandals. You can also use this for layering if you like. Just through this on a tank top or camisole and you are good to go!

2. The Sheer Embroidered Top | Ultimate Summer Fashion Fix

The Ultimate Summer Fashion Fix | Cherry On Top

Having a sheer top in your closet can prove to be a smart choice for you. First of all, sheer tops are elegant, classy and at the same time very chic, feminine and bold. Secondly, you can wear this in several ways- with a camisole underneath, over a chic dress and also as a cover-up for your bikini if you are bold enough to carry it. Your cloth, your style!

The Bottoms

3. The Perfect White Slim Trousers | Ultimate Summer Fashion Fix

The Ultimate Summer Fashion Fix | Cherry On Top

A pair of slim fit, white trousers can sort you out for anything and everything related to summer fashion. You can pair it up with a top, a tunic, a shirt and also with kurtas.

4. The Linen Palazzo | Ultimate Summer Fashion Fix

The Ultimate Summer Fashion Fix | Cherry On Top

If you are from a hot and humid country like India, you are born with a natural sense of fashion that works perfectly for summers. You must have a closet where most of the clothes are either cotton or linen. Summers are all about loose fitting clothes. Then how can we ignore our legs? They too need some space to breath, right? A pair of palazzos will be your best friend during summers. Choose a colour like white, black or blue that goes well with everything or you can coordinate with the top you are wearing. There are so many styles you can do with a pair of palazzos.

The Multipurpose Pieces

5. The Zipper Dress | Ultimate Summer Fashion Fix

The reason I suggest this type of dresses is very obvious. I am focusing on clothes that can be used in many ways so that you don’t fill your wardrobe with several unnecessary pieces. This type of maxi dresses that has either a zipper or buttons all the way through the bottom are perfect for a compact wardrobe. You can wear them as dresses, or you can use them as capes or shrugs over a bodycon dress or any other casual outfit for layering.

6. The Tunic Dress | Ultimate Summer Fashion Fix

I have another style of dress that can be used multifariously. Yes, this is this tunic dress. You can wear this as a dress as it is or you can also pair it up with a pair of leggings or jeggings or slim fit trousers. In this way, you can transform it from western to ethnic. Isn’t that cool?

The Statement Piece

7. The Printed Scarf | Ultimate Summer Fashion Fix

The Ultimate Summer Fashion Fix | Cherry On Top

Lastly, you want something in your wardrobe that can add some spice to your boring outfits. I chose this scarf to play that important role. A scarf like this comes in handy in many situations.

This post was inspired by the thought ‘less is more’. You don’t always need an overfull wardrobe to style yourself everyday, you just need the right clothes no matter how less the number is. You just need to play it smart, understanding your needs and style. This was just an outline, you are the one to complete it.

All the clothes mentioned and showed here are from NIC+ZOE, a Boston-based clothing brand that focuses on chic and minimalistic designs. What I really love about their collection is the colour range and the fact that they are absolutely wearable. Their collection is perfect for those who love fashion without much of a skin show. Despite being an international design house, their collection is completely relatable to an Indian customer.

Their collection is also available in the Amazon global store here.

What is the staple item in your wardrobe?

Hi, guys! Spring is right around the corner and there are a lot of people who are planning to re-organize their wardrobes. I remember, last year I did a post on organising your Spring/Summer wardrobe? I that post I had mentioned only western clothes and accessories. I know there are a lot of women who prefer wearing Indian wear for any and every occasion. So, I thought of going out of the box and post some ethnic outfit ideas for them. I personally love BIBA kurtas, so I have picked up my favourites from their latest collection. These kurtas are best for any time of the day, be it daytime or night time. Some of them are great options for work/office wear.

I have six different kurtas of six different styles and colours to show you guys. All of them are suitable for both day and night time. These kurtas are so perfect for spring and summer. So, let’s start-

This Spring Go Ethnic with BIBA Kurtas| Cherry On Top

My first pick is this beautiful pastel green kurta with an embroidered jacket. This looks so chic and sophisticated and yet so festive. You can easily wear this to work. The floral embroidery makes it very feminine and perfect for spring.

My next pick is again a pretty pastel peachy-pink kurta that has a unique tie-up style on both sides near the waist. It has a very high side-slit and layers that make it quite apt for special occasions like dates. This blush pink colour looks very feminine and perfect for daytime uses. You can pair this up with leggings or palazzos.

This Spring Go Ethnic with BIBA Kurtas| Cherry On Top

I love the colour blue. It is my favourite colour. How could this beautiful straight blue kurta go unnoticed while I browsed through their collection! I love the ensemble that the model have on her. If I was to style this up I would have definitely go with something like that. This kurta is again perfect for work. Because of its soft colour, it is also perfect for summers. Just wear some silver jhumkas with this and you are good to go!

This Spring Go Ethnic with BIBA Kurtas| Cherry On Top

My fourth pick is this pretty white and yellow layered kurta. This kurta also has some nature inspired prints on it which is again perfect for spring. Both the print and the design of this kurta is very unusual which attracted me the most. This can easily be worn for lunch and dinner dates.

This Spring Go Ethnic with BIBA Kurtas| Cherry On Top

I wanted to give you an option of bold colours for those who love to play with colours and love bright shades. This asymmetric kurta is a great option for young girls for many day and night time occasions and also for college.

How can I write an outfit guide without a black outfit? Black is a colour that suits everybody. You can always wear this kurta for college, work, shopping or even for traditional functions. This kurta has a good length, an asymmetric design, full sleeves and comfortable fit. I personally like it a lot.

Sometimes it is really hard to buy kurtas online because you are never too sure of the sizes, materials and fits. BIBA is a brand that I totally trust. They have the best fit ever no matter what!

So, guys!  What do you prefer the most- ethnic or western?

That was it for my Spring/Summer guide for ethnic outfits. I hope you found it helpful. Make sure to share this post with your family and friends if you did. Summer is here and we all are polishing up our summer fashion to beat the heat and look fashionable at the same time. I am no exception. When it comes to choosing clothes for summer, I become very picky. Not all colours, cuts, and fits fascinate me. I like light-weight, breathable materials, soft, pastel colours and of course unique designs. Jabong has stocked up some extremely exciting items in their summer-store that cannot get unnoticed. I chose a printed blue dress from Lara Karen’s Spring Summer 2016 collection available exclusively on Jabong.

Today, I thought of sharing an outfit idea with you that you can wear on a regular basis- for brunches, shopping dates, movies, college and even for work. I tried to keep it simple and fashionable at the same time. Let’s jump into the pictures-

The Summer Story- OOTD Ft. Lara Karen's SS16 Collection at Jabong| cherryontopblog.com

The dress by Lara Karen is made out of a very light-weight cotton fabric (however, I don’t think it’s pure cotton) which is really comfortable. It has the perfect length, just like how I like a daily-wear dress to be. The hemline is perfect for me, it makes the dress breezy and flowy. It has a mandarin collar which might be a little uncomfortable for summers but I like it because it gives a really formal, chic look. This dress has front buttons which I really like as I feel it is easier for me. Also, it has a small chain on the side. There is a cinch at the waistline to enhance the body shape which is great. This dress has short sleeves that go well with the entire look.

The bag I have paired up with this outfit is by a brand called Kiara and it is available on Limeroad. This bag is huge so you can carry your world with you. It is a perfect structured satchel which is great for work or college. The pastel baby pink colour makes it really chic and does not limit the usage. You can even carry it to the movies. Although you can use it formally but it does not look completely formal. I hope I made some sense. This bag has two adjustable straps making it easier for you to carry. The only thing bothers me about this bag is its weight. This bag is a bit on the heavier side.

The white sandals I wore are from Styletag. I got these last winter when they were on sale. These sandals are the comfiest thing ever! They fit perfectly, did not hurt and I did not get any blister which is usual for me whenever I wear a new pair of shoes. I thought white shoes would complement the outfit well and make it more summery as well.

I did not accessorize the outfit much only because I do not like over accessorizing my outfits in summer. I wore a watch which I bought from a thrift store. Not a branded one but it definitely goes well with my outfit. What do you think? The pair of round sunglasses I wore is from Lenskart.

There is a frisson of excitement in the air as the new season settles in. As we bid farewell to the trends of the previous season, a fresh batch of trends emerge.

From the revival of the ’90s to the more-is-more ruffles, this season’s key trends already seem bigger, better and braver. Here’s our comprehensive edit of the newest season: Spring/Summer 2016.

10 Spring/Summer Fashion Trends for 2016 | cherryontopblog.com
1. Slip Into It

Spring’s most sensual proposal? The slip dress. Slinkier than ever, these nightie-inspired dresses pay homage to the supermodels of the ’90s (Think Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista). With subtle details like scalloped lace at Celine, in satin and chiffon at Saint Laurent and layered over fine knits at Pucci, Spring/Summer is looking sexier than ever.

2. True Romance
Real romantics, rejoice! After a wave of androgynous designs and silhouettes that blurred the boundaries of gender, SS16 saw designers embrace femininity to honour woman’s romantic albeit, strong nature. Alexander McQueen chose to be inspired by the Victorian era, Alexander McQueen moved away from his grungy aesthetics and presented a collection that was feminine, subtle and seductive and Erdem showed off ethereal looking dresses that were on the darker side of romanticism.

 3. Ruffles Fest
Ruffles, frills, flounces and ruches continue to be a key trend designers dabbled with. In London, Mary Katrantzou showed off larger-than-life ruffles in structured silhouettes like peplum and tiers. In Milan, Roberto Cavalli presented a collection of billowy taffeta gowns with frill details. Balmain, Michael Kors and Miu Miu also added an exciting edge to this feminine detailing.

 4. Shine on, You Crazy Diamond!

High shine fabrics have always been a runway favourite, but this season’s take on this standout trend is more experimental than ever. While Louis Vuitton went futuristic with foil minidresses, Marc Jacobs and Sonia Rykiel went for all-over sequinned maxi dresses that prove that this key trend is for every girl.

5. Cold Shoulders

Designers prove that the bare shoulders are the only way to show some skin and leave plenty to the imagination. Proenza Schouler, The Row, Boss and Prabal Gurung all featured structured silhouettes with off-shoulder and asymmetric necklines.

6. Mega Colours
The challenge of combining clashing colours was left to Christopher Kane, Gucci, Balmain and Dries Van Noten. And they overcame it with flying colours (quite literally). They presented Pantone hits of the season in vivid graphic and eye-catching motifs.

 7. The ’90s Revival

From Saint Laurent to Vetements, the runway saw inspiration being drawn from the ’90s decade. We saw a full-fledged revival of the oversized jackets, slip dresses and the infamous velour fabric. Alexander Wang also took a turn for the nostalgic with sweatpants and tracksuits for some extra street cred.

8. Floral Redux
While florals for spring may not be ground breaking, this season saw a tougher, moody version of the playful, feminine print. In Paris, Ellie Saab featured laser-cut florals, Phillip Lahm showed off his love for garden groves with minimalist floral prints and Oscar de la Renta put a Latin twist on his flowery ensembles.

 9. Fine Lines
Many designers showed off a bevvy of stripes – from horizontal to vertical, thick to thin, many-hued to monochromatic. Dior, Missoni, Prada and Dolce & Gabbana played with choppy, curled and scattered on billowy to structured silhouettes.

 10. Shoulder-Dusters
A new, bold set of accessories have emerged this season. Shoulder-grazing earrings were featured by Celine, Oscar de la Renta and J W Anderson as mismatched pairs. Simply buy two different pairs of earrings to wear together or wear old favourites together from your jewellery box.
