Plum Natur Studio All-Day-Wear Kohl Kajal Review & Swatches

Hi, guys! Hope you are doing well. Today, I’ll be reviewing something that I have been loving since I got my hands on it. I have been raving about it on my Instagram and Snapchat if you noticed. It is the Plum Natur Studio All-Day-Wear Kohl Kajal. Ever since I heard bloggers talking about this on their blogs, I thought to try one myself and see the results.

Before starting with the review let me share a few things about me. I have extremely oily eyelids. Both my upper and lower waterline are oily and no eyeliner (even some waterproof ones) stays for more than 3 hours on my eyes. I was frantically looking for a kajal that would stay on my eyes forever. Finally, when I read about Plum’s Natur Studio Kohl, I knew this the one that is going to be my best friend for life.

Packaging- The packaging of the Plum Natur Studio All-day-wear Kohl kajal is definitely distinct from the other eyeliners available in the market. It is a bright purple pencil with a regular plastic cap. It does not come with any outer packaging.

Texture- The texture of this Plum Natur Studio All-day-wear Kohl kajal is hands down the best I have ever tried. It is smooth, almost like a gel eyeliner packaged as a pencil liner. It is slightly comparable to the Kryolan Ikonic Gel Eyeliner Pencils, Kryolan being a bit smoother.

Application- As you might have assumed reading about the texture of this product, the application is really smooth and even. It glides on easily on the leads because of the gel-eyeliner-like texture. It takes very less time to apply the kajal on both the upper and lower lids.

Wear Time- The wear time of this Plum Natur Studio All-day-wear Kohl kajal is amazing. The company claims it to be a long-lasting kajal which is absolutely true. It stayed 10 hours on me! I still cannot believe this. I have been trying this for more than a week and every time it lasted on me super long, 8 hours in average. Also, it has a waterproof formula that makes it my favourite.

My Experience with Plum Natur Studio Kohl Kajal

This is so far the best waterproof eyeliner I have ever used. It has a very smooth, creamy, almost gel-liner-like texture. It’s not drying, gives a smooth and even application. The best part, it is long-lasting as the company claims. Stayed on me for 10 hours surviving the hot and humid weather of West Bengal. Completely waterproof, does not wear off even after being wriggled with soap. Comes out without being a mess when removed using a makeup remover. This has become my favourite eyeliner and I am definitely going to stock a few more. The sharpener that came with it is a great one. It comes with a tiny tool to clean-up after using it.

I highly recommend this kajal to everyone if you like creamy, jet-black and long-lasting eyeliners. The Plum Natur Studio Kohl Kajal has a bit higher price tag but it is something you would like to spend your money on. I can vouch for that. Her studio is something that every designer dreams of. A tastefully decorated, mysteriously lit up place with the display of her designs. As soon as we entered her studio we were lead to the section where her latest collection was displayed. We were told about each and every piece, the materials used, the works and how they can be paired to make a perfect summer outfit.

Garo Spring/Summer Collection, 2016| My Thoughts

If you are a Lakme Fashion Week fan and religiously watch it happen every year whether from the ramp or from your computer, you must be familiar with this name- Garo. Garo is a brainchild of designers Priyangsu Maji and Sweta Tantia from Kolkata who showcased their exclusive and unique femmes-de-Tahiti collection at the Lakme Fashion Week, 2016 for the first time. The first time organizing their own show and turning it into a big hit, that is their success story. If you do not remember their show, then allow me to remind you by showing you the picture where this designer-duo posed with their show-stopper for the show Divya Khosla Kumar. She looked ravishing in the Garo dress-

Recently, I got a chance to visit their studio, see their Spring/Summer collection, and have a one-on-one conversation with them. I went to their store on 15th of this month. I have shared a picture with them on my Instagram if you remember. So, I went there with a fellow blogger and friend, Kinkinee from Gupshup Avenue. Reaching there, we were welcomed warmly by the designers themselves. After talking for a while, we went straight to the collection. Their collection is mostly about ethnic wear. They specialize in asymmetrical hemline, multiple layers, drapes, different prints and patterns etc. Let me show you their Spring/Summer Collection for the year 2016. I’ll share some of the conversations we had at the end of this post.

Now, coming back to our conversation with Priyangsu and Sweta, it was a really friendly chat. So we asked them a few questions like how do they get inspired, what is the story behind Garo, when they are coming with a proper store, what is their next project and so on. I am writing down what they answered. They showed us a book by the famous artist Paul Gauguin and told us that their Femmes-de-Tahiti collection that was showcased at the LFW 2016 was inspired by Paul Gauguin’s paintings of a Tahitian village and its dwellers. I found this really interesting. On asking about the story behind the name, Garo, they told us that this is because Garo is an Assamese tribe and their designs are also inspired by tribal arts. People living in or around Kolkata would love to know that they are coming up with a well-stocked store in Kolkata. I am really looking forward to their new store. Believe me, their collection is irresistible.

The Summer Story | OOTD Ft. Lara Karen’s SS16 Collection on Jabong

Summer is here and we all are polishing up our summer fashion to beat the heat and look fashionable at the same time. I am no exception. When it comes to choosing clothes for summer, I become very picky. Not all colours, cuts, and fits fascinate me. I like light-weight, breathable materials, soft, pastel colours and of course unique designs. Jabong has stocked up some extremely exciting items in their summer-store that cannot get unnoticed. I chose a printed blue dress from Lara Karen’s Spring Summer 2016 collection available exclusively on Jabong.

Today, I thought of sharing an outfit idea with you that you can wear on a regular basis- for brunches, shopping dates, movies, college and even for work. I tried to keep it simple and fashionable at the same time. Let’s jump into the pictures-

The dress by Lara Karen is made out of a very light-weight cotton fabric (however, I don’t think it’s pure cotton) which is really comfortable. It has the perfect length, just like how I like a daily-wear dress to be. The hemline is perfect for me, it makes the dress breezy and flowy. It has a mandarin collar which might be a little uncomfortable for summers but I like it because it gives a really formal, chic look. This dress has front buttons which I really like as I feel it is easier for me. Also, it has a small chain on the side. There is a cinch at the waistline to enhance the body shape which is great. This dress has short sleeves that go well with the entire look.

The bag I have paired up with this outfit is by a brand called Kiara and it is available on Limeroad. This bag is huge so you can carry your world with you. It is a perfect structured satchel which is great for work or college. The pastel baby pink colour makes it really chic and does not limit the usage. You can even carry it to the movies. Although you can use it formally but it does not look completely formal. I hope I made some sense. This bag has two adjustable straps making it easier for you to carry. The only thing bothers me about this bag is its weight. This bag is a bit on the heavier side.

The white sandals I wore are from Styletag. I got these last winter when they were on sale. These sandals are the comfiest thing ever! They fit perfectly, did not hurt and I did not get any blister which is usual for me whenever I wear a new pair of shoes. I thought white shoes would complement the outfit well and make it more summery as well.

I did not accessorize the outfit much only because I do not like over accessorizing my outfits in summer. I wore a watch which I bought from a thrift store. Not a branded one but it definitely goes well with my outfit. What do you think? The pair of round sunglasses I wore is from Lenskart.

Restaurant Week India, 2016| Yauatcha, Kolkata Special Menu

As you would know, Restaurant Week India, 2016 has started in Kolkata and is about to end in a few days. Read the pre-event listing here. I am a big foodie. This is the only reason why I became really excited when Restaurant Week India invited me to taste some special menu for the event. They gave me a few choices of restaurants in the city among which I chose Yauatcha. The reason why I chose Yauatcha is, I have heard a lot of rave about this restaurant from my foodie friends and secondly, I wanted to try some food from the city’s first Michelin Star restaurant. I took my sister along with me.

We had a table booked for us by RWI team for lunch. As soon as we entered the restaurant, we were escorted to our table by a staff. After we made ourselves comfortable, the manager (I am really sorry, I can’t remember names :/) came to us to know if we are comfortable there. We were served welcome drinks. Mine was a Lime and Passion fruit drink and my sister got a Strawberry one. At this moment, the manager introduced us to the chef, Kushal Lama (I remember his name because I have his business card). After exchanging greetings, he explained us all about Yauatcha, its start, the menu and what they aim to. Yauatcha is a pure Cantonese restaurant, opened in Soho, London in 2004. It’s first branch in India was opened in Mumbai. Without further ado, let’s get into the most important part of this post, the menu or rather the special menu.

The Restaurant Week India special menu at Yauatcha is divided into three parts which is the three course- appetizers, main course and dessert. You get a choice to choose one from each menu along with staples like rice/noodles for RS 900/- per person (tax extra). Honestly, I have no idea about Cantonese food and I did not want to mess up my experience by experimenting, so I asked the chef to suggest which dish should we go with. The chef was really happy to do that for us.

Crispy Prawn Cheung Fun in Light Soya Sauce

So, from the appetizer menu, he suggested us to try the dumplings and the cheung fun which are their specialties. He suggested the Wrapped Chicken in Pakchoi with Szechuan Sauce and the Crispy Prawn Cheung Fun. The first one is a steamed dumpling where Pakchoi which is a Chinese green is filled with diced chicken and yam bean and then steamed and served with szechuan sauce. The second one is basically a roll in which steamed rice paper is wrapped around crispy fried prawn dipped in tempura batter and served with sweet soya sauce. Both of the dishes had a very subtle flavour to them. I loved the Crispy Prawn Cheung Fun a lot and I would recommend you guys to try it out. The steamed outer part and crispy inner part gives it a very unique texture which I loved. My sister, on the other hand liked the dumpling more.

Chicken and Egg White Fried Rice

For the main course, chef Lama asked us for our choices and we wanted to go for a prawn dish and a lamb dish. We went for the Sliced Lamb in Kam Heong Sauce and Stir Fry Prawns in Home Town Chili Sauce. The lamb was tossed with diced veggies like yellow bell peppers and onion and the Kam Heong sauce.  I found the lamb a little chewy. It was not as soft and juicy as I would like it to be. Both of us liked the prawn more. The prawn was blanched and then tossed with some veggies and the Home Town sauce which is a little spicy and tangy. I must say this dish hit all the right notes. We had also ordered the Chicken and Egg Fried Rice along with these two dishes.

Chocolate Hazelnut Mousse

For dessert, we had only four options among which we both agreed for the Chocolate Hazelnut Mousse. Chocolate any day! This dessert was so blissful that the taste is still in my memory. It was actually a mousse served with ice-cream. I haven;t tried anything more divine than this in a long time.

We both enjoyed our food and the overall experience was really good. The chef was always there by the side to assist us learning about what we were eating. The entire staff was so soft-spoken and helpful and the ambiance of the restaurant was really peaceful.
